Hello ladies,

Quick question, my wife is sttempting to stop nursing our little one, however, her boobs are going full blast...it is almost to the point of being painful. Any suggestions that I could pass on to her ? She did not have this issue with our first child.

Have her express just enough to make herself comfortable, eventually she will start to dry up. Also I think the doctor gave my sister BC pills for this but I'm not sure.

I slowed down gradually and had no discomfort. I nursed for over a year too. We got down to nursing only twice a day, just before nap and bedtime for only a few minutes. Then my daughter had a cold with a bad stuffy nose for a week and couldn't really nurse very well, so I just stopped and within a couple of days milk production was gone. My boobs stayed huge for a long time though...I miss them! LOL

Has anyone ever heard of using cabbage leaves to dry up the breasts? I think I heard something about it from my midwife.

Warm compresses should help, but yes do it over the course of like a week or two. Go from nursing three times per day to only AM and PM. Then eliminate the AM feeding. I found it hardest to give up the nursing before bedtime... GEEZE, I am getting all freaking choked up now and my baby is nearly six. Damned hormones! LOL
