could be. You want to hard boil eggs that are a few days old, actually, but not past the expiration date on the carton and of course not floaters...lol. After they are a few days old, you boil em and they are easier to peel than the super-fresh ones because they are more alkaline and there is more of a pocket of air on the inside.
If you put a raw egg in water, it should sink to the bottom. If it floats, throw it away. The gasses have started forming on the inside from it being old and is making the egg float. Throw out any floaters.
