Egg yolks

I was just wondering how many egg yolks you all take with your whites..? Each morning I down 6x whites with 1x yolk. I know some people may leave out the yolk all together because of cholesterol.

So what ratio do you eat, and why...?

(I would've started a poll but couldn't see how. Is this a Plat only feature?)

I don't follow a ratio, but I would tend to agree with Aekdb. Unless you are actually worried about cholesterol why throw away a good yolk. Now sometimes I justify that by giving them to my two labs.

It isn't about the cholesterol, it is about the fat content. Especially when you are trying not to mix carbs and fat in your morning meal. Ingesting cholesterol may not have any effect on serum cholesterol.

that's my understanding
I remember reading eskimos(traditional high fat diets) have low cholesterol profiles

I eat whole eggs

I eat 8 raw eggs every morning - 3 whole and 5 whites. Been doing this religiously for a couple years. My (bad/LDL) cholesterol has never been a problem, and I get this checked a couple times per year.

I eat whole egg every time

LOL @ increased serum cholesterol from egg yolks

Better advice would be to cut down on coke and sugar added juice drinks

^^ agreed with GJ

entire egg for me, all the time

whole egg! I think just the white tastes gross. Soft boiled to me. I hate it very hard boiled. Also, you should never boil them and see green built up inside. That's sulfur, and we want to avoid that. Soft boiled tastes better anyways(just enough where it isn't oozing out, but the yolk is tender and dark still)

I'm a white only guy myself. Pure protein. I just put it in the blender with a tad of milk and some splenda and just sweep it down. Take 10-15 egg whites in the am.

LOL.. between your name and choice of foods I'd have to out right call you a racist!

Why are you guys having eggs raw? Your body has a harder time digesting them, I doubt you'll catch anything but indigestion..

I know yolks don't affect my cholesterol but they make the meal very fatty and sustain the insulin response I have when I eat carbs for breakfast. I feed em to the dogs as treats.. 5 a day..

I'm fucked. I've had 9 whole eggs today  I have had a cup and half of whites though if that matters lol.

5 whites and one whole egg. Perfect amount for making an omlette. Just throw on some chopped onions and green peppers, some left over steak, maybe some canadian bacon and some cheese. Good shit mon!

Actually raw eggs are probably one of the easiest foods to digest. Don't know if it's true, but I've heard they digest in between 16-25 minutes. I've consumed raw eggs now for three years and have had no issues and have only seen improvement in my digestion, energy, mental outlook and physique. All about experimentation and is an individual thing.

Here's some reading if you care-

i usually eat 1-2 full eggs and 4-5 whites per mourning with some oatmeal with a scoop of peanut butter. i'm cutting now though.

Eggs contain an enzyme that breaks down most of the cholesterol anyway. I eat the entire egg every time.

Those of you eating the entire egg, is it a couple of eggs, or 6?

For me it's 6 to 8 whole eggs per day. The protein content of the yolk is almost equal to that of the white.

Same here. 4-6 in the morning, 2-4 during the day, and 0-2 in the evening depending on what I am cooking. I make it a goal to eat at least 6 a day even when traveling. :RADAR

I see no need to waste good food.

yup
the body uses cholesterol to make hormones
if you're not "on" then this is beneficial
if you're active you don't have to worry about cholesterol too much
dietary cholesterol really has little impact on your cholesterol levels
those are affected by lifestyle more so

4 whole eggs poached on whole wheat toast every morning and then as a snack during the day I might have another 1 or 2 soft boiled that I keep in the fridge for just this occassion. Great way to avoid hunger and as has been said if your not eating the whole egg you are just wasting the best part.

mix and match. If it's the morning I have no time and the thought of eating a big meal makes me feel sick, so 8 egg whites, pint of milk, some oats and a bannana all blended up. Any other time I'm all about the poached whole eggs.

first meal of the day 12 omega large eggs, 3 slices of turkey bacon, 6 slices ezekeal toast, few slices of cheese, 1 cup o.j.

5 whole eggs for breakfast. Maybe another 3-4 later if I don't have another source of protein available or I'm particularly ravenous. I buy the free range organic ones and it would be a shame to waste money and good calories by discarding the yolks.

3 raw and 6 white every mourning, then 3 raw preworkout. i hate everyone bitching at me that im going to get salmonella. they also tell me the yolks will increase your cholesterol (which i dont believe either). and today my dad tried pitching a line that raw eggs reduce testosterone. there all ignorant if you ask me!

This may be old news, but I saw pasteurized eggs in the grocery store. NOT in a carton, which I have seen before, but still in the shell.

when I wake up I whack down 1 scoop of whey. Then do 30 mins of stationary bike. Then 6 soft boiled , 4 whites and 2 whole and 1 piece of whole wheat toast mixed in a bowl ( yummy ). Late night, around 9 pm, 3 egg whites and 1 whole egg into scrambled eggs and one piece of whole wheat toaste with a tiny bit of strawberry jelly and glass of milk. Then around 11 pm, 1 scoop of whey and 1 scoop of casein mixed with milk. ( I workout around 3 or 4 pm then take more whey and gainers fuel for the extra cals. )

The only problem are my farts. They are deadly.

salmonella comes from the chickens poop that gets on the shell. it is not inside the egg. it is extremely unlikely that it is missed in the processing but it could happen. if you want to be sure salmonella is not present you can wash the egg and hands together in warm soapy water before you crack the egg.
