EF Computer geeks.. need help!

Ok its about time I get a whole new computer system.

I typically just buy it all and put it together.


So the big decision is what Mobo and chipset to go with...

for chipset I'm looking at the AMD Athalon 64 FX-53 2.4ghz..
RAM.. 1G of KINGMAX PC3200 128x64 184 pin DDR memory
Mobo = MSI K8N Neo PLATINUM
Blade case with 450w power supply
GeForce 6800GT (or maybe Ultra) vid card
CD-RW.

comed out to around 2500...


thoughts?

get the RAM with 4G and 400megs
power supply minimum of 900W and 2ohms
CD-RW-DR-TH version
 
900W power supply??? can you link me to some examples of this.

you put up the specs for a $2500 system...i don't think anyone's going to have anything negative to say about it. all of the parts you listed are quality. if you want to be a super badass, get an ati 9800xt.

Whew, okay. I haven't researched components in a while, so I thought maybe I was missing something.
 
i had to host it on my personal webspace since i can't link to it anymore

my favorite part about that pic is that the nerd who is already out of the plane is assisting the other nerds. he's obviously the lead nerd as he's wearing a tan sport coat and brown pants to go along with his brown shoes and hair. BROWN. ALL THE TIME BROWN. it's just good to see nerds working together for a common goal sometimes. warms the heart. even if they are goddam nerds.

I want to stick with the GeForce... I like nVidia, plus they say its the preferred chip for Doom 3... the Ultra and GT both kick serious ass.

Lestat - you should be able to run Doom 3 with a quickness with all the eye candy. I have mine set to the absolutel lowest settings. I gave up after I somehow got out onto the surface of Mars when you're not supposed to and there was no way I could die without turning off god mode. And I didn't want to start back over from where I last saved. I'm so weak.

nuh-huh. the 900's will be on the market soon, i got mine early because my dad works at gateway.
 
You would need to keep the CPU in another room running a 900 W Power Supply,
or wear hearing protection.

Never mind the price and all that. How are you gonna get a system like that without a DVD Burner?

we are, but some of us are from other countries, and dont use MOBO to say mother board we say "tarjeta madre"

FYI,

ASUS Motherboards are tops

ATI Vid Cards are better picture quality if that matters

Corsairs Ram is the most reliable and will work on any motherboard, alot of ram made by other companys has problems working on all motherboards.

Comp prices all depend on your needs.
