Does anyone have any idea how much of a difference percentage wise (roughly) that adding an ECA makes on fat loss? Also does ephedra make it more difficult to lose the estrogen related fat? I have never used an ECA or much NYC as I hate the way that they make me feel but will consider adding one short term if it will make a big difference.

probably 5-7% difference...i think the avg ECA stack taken 3 times a day was approximated to burn a whopping 150cals a day...this was on the lowcarb mailing list yearssssss ago.

and why would you think ephedra makes it HARDER to lose estrogen related fat??

Thanks NYM
I am almost certain that I read a study somewhere that said ephedra upregulated A2 receptors - I should have searched before I asked, let me see if I can find it, not sure it was from this site.

ECA purportedly increases your metabolic rate by 5-10%, which amounts to several hundred extra calories a day being burned - all things being equal, one could just as easily do that much cardio to accomplish the same feat, unless there really is an appreciable amount of receptor upregulation...

Speaking of, I thought ephedrine stimulated the beta receptors, not the alpha's? Why would it upregulate them? You could always rotate ECA with NYC - do one for two weeks, then another for two weeks, and repeat the process.

Nice to see another fellow Lowcarb lister, BTW. Brings back memories. :)

yeah ive been on that list since like 1996
i met up with a few of the guys in NY , we had lunch.

i havent been on the list in maybe 2 yrs...i perfected the diet on my own and to be honest, there is nothing new to learn...but that list is incredible for diet info and tricks of the trade...unreal.

This is what Macro had to say in a post on another board quite some time ago. Mac or MS - do either of you have any more information on this? Is topical yohimbine hcl enough to make this a non-issue?????

Is ephedrine actually making you fatter?
well YES and NO.
Ephedrine is beta agonist- it increases the release of fatty acids.

Unfortunatly, ephedrine is also a A2 agonist- inhibiting the release of fatty acids from estrogenic fatty deposits (typicaly highest a2 concentrations are hips, thighs, triceps and gluteus)- there may be some upregulation of the a2 from this activity but it is unclear.

What does this mean?

ephedrine helps you burn fat while making certain fatty deposits MORE "stubborn".

Yes, ECA by itself will help get a female's upper body ripped to shreds, but doesn't make a dramatic diff to lower body fat. Yohimbine is a better drug for this purpose IMHO. No matter what you take, you'll still have to diet down to pretty low bf levels to get truly lean thighs on a normal woman. These drugs are just a supplement to good diet and exercise.

I "feel" ECA more than NYC which I don't feel at all (except the one time I took too much :D and that made me feel really spacey not wired). I noticed a definite fatloss in lower body with NYC that I did not get with ECA. I've had good results alternating betw the 2, such as ECA for 2 weeks, nothing for 2 weeks, NYC for 2 weeks, which I use with Yohimburn.

Can someone please cite a reference (not in vitro or animal stuff, human only) that shows that:

1) EPH inhibits fat loss in site specific areas while increasing it in others.

2) EPH has a high affinity for alpha-receptors

3) that yohimbe has actually caused significant fat loss in a human model, especially females?

I have plenty of cites for you for yohimbine hcl but not for yohimbe.
