Eating when I'm bored

I have a huge problem with eating when I'm bored - I know what I'm supposed to be eating every day and night and typically I make it through the workday completely on target without any problems, then I get home and it all goes downhill. I typically still eat clean, I'm just eating more than my cutting diet allows for. I can't seem to sit still and not eat - and I don't have a workshop in my new place so I can't stay active with that. So far I've tried chewing gum, sunflower seeds (shelling them myself - so I can waste a good half-hour w/ minimal calories), drinking lots of water and club soda. But they just seem to delay the inevitable.

So - anyone have any good ideas for getting through the evening w/o that extra scoop of ANPB or tuna sandwich?

If you HAVE to have something - there's always the no sugar ice pops or sugar free / fat free jello. Its not all that exciting but it does work.

Otherwise its a habit change - stay busy - dont' just come home & sit. Read, go to the gym, do something. Its also a bit of a mind set adjustment - for ex - it always seems like if I REALLY want results, I literally have to go into competition prep where there's a consequence if I don't follow my diet 1000% Plus I train & do cardio at nite so I don't actually get home until late. But a few days like that I do start to forget to "munch".

Yah - basically what I had thought - I really need a to set a goal...maybe I'll plan a trip to the Caribbean or something :-)

Fat free jello might work - or maybe I'll buy some celery and a few cardboard boxes to munch on.

LOL - I will admit I go thru phases -- months at a time where I can eat my scheduled diet exactly w/ no urges at all. And then I hit the day where it just goes out the window. THen its like that for a while. I also find that when I go 1000% clean for a while and then eat even too many cashews or something, I start retaining water, feel like shit, bloaty, squishy, etc. That takes a day or two to clear out but it feels so miserable, I do that little question in my head before I start munching "Is it worth it?"

Also if its an appetite thing - are you eating enough in your diet to accommodate your body's "fuel" needs? You might want to check that just to make sure - if you find you crave something specific like an overwhelming urge for peanut butter or something - you may be low on fats. Or it might just be time to change the diet out of boredom or your body has become "used to it".

Otherwise, you might try a hoodia-based appetite suppressant - I had great luck w/ VPX Dietex last yr for competition - literally killed my taste buds -- had no "taste" for anything and scheduled meals were simply "feeding time".
