Eating after a certain time..VERY bad....myth or true?

lets get dont to buisness, if i had to eat a big meal right befor bed and the chug a mrp in the middle of the night, would all those cal go to waste and be fat..... or is it just the simple rule of calories in VS calories burnt (out)?
fitness managers all over say myth, old school bodybuilders say true... whats YOU answer?
 
I think it depends on your activity schedule - as Kurz has touched on numerous times - if you're working out at night, you need to get your nutrition in afterwards....

First priority should be to establish a total daily calorie count (made up of quality foods, etc.,) - after that is covered you can begin to worry about meal timing, etc., and tweaking things to achieve optimal gains/losses.
 
i dont think its means shit when you eat, do you think if you didnt eat all day then pounded some food before bed that just because you are going to bed its gonna go to your waist .i always eat before bed remember this is probably the longest period of time you will go with out food just be smart about what you eat late keep fat and carbs reasonable i have had good results eating before bed it works very good for hard gainers i do not wake up in the middle of the night to pound another shake i just make sure what i eat is slow digesting,casien cottage cheese healthy fats etc hope this helps and sory for the poor punctuiation and spelling peace

Myth

You eat every 2-3 hours during the day
and you fast all night
So you need to eat before bed
 
Ive been known to fall asleep with a bowl of cottage cheese, a bag of peanuts, and a casein shake next to me...........I would probably nix it if I didn't eat so little during the day..........
 
IMO you need to eat up to 30min prior to going to bed. And if you can get your 8 hrs of sleep in while also drinking a shake in the middle of the nite then that would also be beneficial, especially if your a hardgainer. If sleep is going to be sacrificed though, i would recommend not waking up and not having the shake. Also remember, when you eat isnt the most important factor, its what you eat at a specific time that will best benefit your cutting/bulking goals!!! Such as no fats in pwo, and if your cutting, no carbs right before bed, just healthy fats and slow digesting protein.
 
30 minutes? Hell, Im never more than 10 and it's worked well......the no carb thing is complete junk.........I trained at night, ate oats before bed and got down to 5-6%.....natty. It's all about caloric intake.......someday we will learn this.

Bro, if that works for you, then great. It totally depends on genetics, body chemistry/makeup, an array of factors, but the general rule, which has been proven scientifically and otherwise, is no carbs before bed. The exception would be if your ppwo falls at that time, or your dietary(cutting/bulking) goals. And yes, 30 minutes is what i use and has worked well. Any more than that and i'll wake up starving in the middle of the nite. Any sooner than that and i cant sleep from being full. To each, their own, bro. But if you were going to give someone advice on this and knowing they gain easily, would you still recommend that if they were looking to drop bf?

31 min is OK but 29 will make you fat ? LOL

If you've spent more calories (by working out for instance) than you've ingested you'd better eat, wathever the time
