dying from steroids

Does anyone know of anyone who died from taking steroids?
Just wondering what the chances are of dying from steroids in moderate dosages if everything else (diet, cardio, etc) are all good?

I don't think medically there has been one proven death that was primarily caused by AAS. I don't think, however, that it isn't impossible to happen to someone who abuses and/or has a bad ticker to begin with.

It's a well known fact that there have never been any deaths DIRECTLY related to AAS. Of course it's definitely possible. If one takes large doses over a prolonged period of time something is bound to happen. Especially if that person also uses rec drugs.

this is not entirely true, liver cancers have been linked to several oral steroids. However generally the "danger" of AAS is minimal and is typically any "issue" is an exacerbation of underlying problems. Having a huge bodymass is not linked with long life, though "huge" people (in the past) have not done all the "healthy" things- cardio, diet, supps, etc.. that "huge" people now can and often do engage in... so only time will tell if the high bodymass shorten life span under the more recent paradigm.

as a futher note- withdrawal of the "offending" oral steroid has in documented cases led to a regression of the liver tumors. Though it can easily be argued that those individuals were likely to have liver cancer and it just caused an "earlier/stronger" appearance.

Yeah I realise rec drugs are a problem more so than gear. I would imagine that millions of people over the world take steroids, how many die though from steroid use (not abuse)? Hardly any..
The reason I ask is becasue a few docs have said that steroids can kill and how bad they are for you, this is coming from overweight doctors, some female who havent even exercised in their lives yet they preach how bad gear is for you with no proof.

the "steroids can kill" mantra is just that, an advertising campaign intended to further an ideology.

study on the matter- a bit vague but interesting...

Anabolic steroid use by athletes. How serious are the health hazards?

Windsor RE, Dumitru D.

Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio.

Use of anabolic steroids is widespread in the athletic community, especially among power athletes, who have used them for about 30 years. Despite educational and preventive measures, steroid use has increased. Controversy continues regarding the enhancement of athletic performance and the incidence of major side effects. Some investigators have suggested that the hazards of anabolic steroids may be overstated in the diseased population and are minimal or absent in healthy subjects. Yet, many questions are unanswered. Current data do not link life-threatening side effects with intermittent use of anabolic steroids. However, many concerns remain. Dangerous situations include use of anabolic steroids by adolescents, preadolescents, and persons with liver or heart disease and use of oral compounds in high doses for long periods. A coordinated team approach (with representatives from sports, medicine, advertising, and the pharmaceutical industry) is needed to determine the real risks of anabolic steroids to athletes who are considering their use.
