Dr wasn't expecting 1300 testosterone reading

I am 51 years old and have been on TRT for a year now. I convinced my regular doc to put me on it when I consistently had testosterone reading in the low 300's over 2 years. He has me on 100 mg test cyp every week.

6 months ago I went in for my every 6 months visit and we discussed my level from my blood work. He had me wait until day 7 between injections before having blood drawn. It came in at 376 and he said "well, that's your trough level". He then said "next time you should have your blood drawn the day your inject to see what your peak level is". I noticed that he did not write this down on my chart.

So yesterday I get a call from his assistant and he says "we just got your blood work back and your testosterone level was not what we expected. It is at 1329. When was the last time you injected and what was the dose"? I let him know what the doc said 6 months ago and mentioned that I was certain he said it in passing and didn't write it down. I let him know that it was 1/2 cc (100mg)12 hours before the blood draw, my prescribed dosage. He said "oh, ok. I will let the Dr know and that it made sense that the level would be high.

I am fairly certain that I am probably my doc's only injectable TRT patient and don't know how many patients he has on TRT. This seems new to him so I always come prepared with knowledge when I have to go in for a check up. I see him in 2 weeks and want to cover all of my bases.

My question is this level typical for test gyp at 12 hours? I don't do any other AAS or supplements. Any info would be gretly appreciated.

Oh yeah, my stats

51 years old
5'9"
160#'s
13% bf
lift 6 hours/week
Ride my bike about 8000 miles/year-road cycling

The last year on test has been awesome as recovery, libido etc is greatly improved.

doctors aren't experts with hormones. most if not all are clueless unless they themselves juice.

your T levels will fluctuate, the key is building consistency with your injections to keep things stable so that you can go in any time for bloods and get consistent results. with cyp if you are injecting twice a week that is a good way to keep things stable

and google pct calculator and check that out.

holy crap Stevesmi...

"and google PCT calculator and check that out"

Thats an amazing site... anyway to put that in a line graph??????

100mg a week is pretty standard TRT dose. If you are feeling great then why change it?

So day 7 you are at 376, which is at the bottom end of normal range. But you inject again the very same day. I doubt your doc is going to bump you up anyway. And he certainly shouldn't move your dose down either.

If you want to cycle you can cycle higher doses and/or other drugs within your TRT. Just make sure to stop the cycle and get back to your normal TRT dose within a few weeks.

As far as typical blood level at 12 hours goes, it doesn't matter because you're not injecting every day. The point is at day 7 you're only at 376.

My doc has me draw blood at day 7 as well. I am prescribed 175mg a week of test cyp. On day 7 my blood level is usually between 650-800. My doctor is happy with that. He's more concerned with other stuff like liver values, hgb and hct, and psa.
