Don't block the F'en mirror!

FknKnuckleHd

New member
I was at the gym yesterday and I'm doing cable pull downs and I was using the mirror which was about 20ft away and this focken jackass walks directly in front of me, blocks the mirror and starts doing an exercise. I workout at my local Gold's Gym so the place is fairly big and it was just he and I in that particular area. Like most when I train I use the mirrors to keep good form and lets face it most of us are vane mf's anyway. I can't take it when these dickheads pay no attention to anybody else but themselves. I told the guy to get the fuck outa my way and he just about started crying. But what should I have done and this has happened several times, never the same person twice and its getting to the point where I'm having a hard time controlling myself . I know it was the wrong way to handle the situation. I know these skinny non-form having too much weight doin assholes are thinking "roid rage" but my test levels have nothing to do with it. It has everything to do with jerks that have never heard of gym courtesy, re-rack your weights, don't stare at the ladies crotches when they're doing the leg spread machine(?)(unless she's not wearing panties)wipe your sweat stain off the bench, don't attempt to ask me a question in the middle of a set and DON'T BLOCK THE F'en MIRROR WHEN I AM USING IT! Am I reaching when I say the lazy shit behind the counter signing up new members should make that part of his/her speech for newbie's? Your opinions are always appreciated!
Thanks for letting me share and with that I'll keep coming back!

You were 20 feet away and pissed that someone was in your way? GMAFB Most people are barely aware of what's occuring within 8 feet of them let alone 20 feet away. If you'd have said it to me that way I'd have told you to fuck off and die and likely made it a point after that to be in your way. Now, if you'd said something nicely, since I likely had no clue I was in your way, I'd have not only moved, but went out of my way to watch more closely the next time. ;)

you could have asked nicely.

did you really use the F-word?

Is that a joke?

I was squatting a few months ago...the mirror couldn't have been 6 feet in front of me...about 2 feet in front of the rack. When I'm IN THE MIDDLE OF MY SET, some nut job stands in front of me, looking at me, and reaches around the rack to grab some weight. Not behind me, RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME WHILE I'M DOING MY SET. I flipped!

"ARE YOU A FUCKING IDIOT? DO YOU NOT SEE ME SQUATTING RIGHT HERE? IF I COULD THROW THIS WEIGHT AT YOU I WOULD! GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME BEFORE I CHOKE THE LIFE RIGHT OUT OF YOUR DUMB ASS!"

So yes, I think it's a legit complaint.

You were prolly nicer about it than I was.

20 feet. LMAO! I get mad when people are in the locker room at the same time as me. I mean, give me a fucking break! Can't a man have some privacy! Rude mutherfuckers...

6ft is a whole different deal than 20 ft is.

That's you and this is me.
I said it was only he and I in the area and 40ft of mirror he chose to stand in the worse possible place.
Buddy if he/you told me to fuck off in or out of the gym I'd split your shit wide the fuck open and I hate saying stupid shit like this through a computer because it opens a can of worms that can't be shut. But, if you ever hear someone at a gym tell a person to get the F out of their way because that persons doing some rude shit, even if its not directed at you tell that guy to "fuck off" and if there is a God in this world may that guy be me! Enough said go back to your needle point.

Oh how cute. And you still said the stupid shit over a computer. Then completely missed the point that there's a highly significant possibility that the guy had NO clue he was in your way. And being the bright boy you are, it didn't occur to you that 20 feet is a damn long circumfrance of distance for anyone to pay attention to. And even more splendidly you demonstrate the bullshit bully mentality and attitude that gives our sport a bad name. Congrats for fulfilling the sterotype. I cherish meeting bad boys like you in the gym or out. It completely makes my day.

I thought that was the point he was making?
That of all the places this guy could have stood, it was in front of him?
And that people need to be more cognizant of whats happening around them instead of being in their own little world?

Ok, and how many people are worried about what's occuring 20 feet away from them? And how many people are going to DELIBERATELY put themselves in FRONT of someone to block their view? Most people are lucky to pay attention to what's occuring just beyond arms reach of themselves.

I hear ya bro....the other day I was doing some DB mil press, 10 feet in front of the mirror, and this fucking jackass with toothpick legs wearing these short shorts, and a gay ass muscle shirt tucked in to this shorts, showing his 14inch biceps bends over as I was half-way thru my set, and was shoving his ass in my face. FUCK1 I should have killled him.

Because he did what to you? If you clowns are so damn picky about who's where and when, buy your own damn gym and use it to yourself. What a bunch of crybabies.

Because he shoved his ass in my face, and he knew what he was doing too. Do you like middle aged mens asses in your face?

And what does the mirror have to do with AAS? you said it yourself in your very first post it has nothing to do with your test levels or roid rage, so why are we complaining about someone being in front of a mirror on a steroid discussion board. Put it in the fashion board or something! Sounds like you have an ego problem or something.

Personally if your looking at yourself in the mirror the weight is WAY to light and you need to rethink what it is you are there for!!!!!!!!

the test is making us sassy SSS.

But anyway, I dont like people getting in between me and the mirror but you just have to deal with shit sometimes. Dont take it so personally, you know you're bigger than the jackass who lacks the common sense, just leave it at that.

Hell, there are some days at the gym were there are enough people working out that trying to find a place in a mirror is damn near impossible. They even placed the cable fly machine in FRONT of the squat rack, so if no one is doing cables you can watch your form, but if not you're seeing someone's ass bent over. Nothing to get all hissy over, it's not like the mirror is going to add anything to the workout, and I already have significant experience to where form isn't an issue any longer. Now the young scrawny ones, NEED the mirror to see the dumb stuff they're doing... ;)

Its not like we are so immature as to rage on people, you just suck it up and not worry about it. But it is annoying...a polite please move is adequate. I never would yell at someone for it...but I do feel quite frustrated.

Chill with the ego bro. I know how it is. We as men and controllers of the universe LOL...must control this anger. It is what seperates animals from men. 20 feet?! Come on! Let it go. But up in your face? Ok...I think it's time to have a little chat and discuss how this guy wants he face bashed in.

20 ft away? I got news for you....I would've blocked your butt and not thought twice about it. So everything between you and the mirror is off limits til you're done? sheesh! I only really use the mirror for squatting now and it's right in front of me.

bro he probably had no clue

if he did you just gotta laugh at inconsiderate ppl and remind yourself that 9/10 times its not worth getting your blood pressure up over

Interesting read...should I take this thread EOD or ED. Also do you think I should stack this thread with "this guy in my gym stinks" or is that over doing it? One last thing, what kind of PTT (post thread therapy) should I do for this type of thread? I mean I don't want to crash or lose any gains I got from this thread. Thanks in advance. Karma to all that help me out. Sorry not trying to hijak.

Well I gotta admitt a dude in short shorts ass 2 feet from me while I am huffing and puffing and doing an exercise to boot that you really do need a mirror for. I would have got pissed off too a bit...not that bad but a hey get yer ass out of my face would have come out I think.

Get this I was doing weighted chins. Climb up on the rack get strapped on, 45# plate a hangin'. This asshole jumps up on the same piece as me and starts doing dips right with his damn head in the middle of the road where my legs will go when i start chinning! I flipped out fuck this and dumb ass that all red dieting 3 weeks out on 700mg fina a week and thats just one of the compounds I was on. My GF told him he better never do that again while I was ranting and walking so as not to kill this fool. He said you can do more than one exercise on this piece. My GF sayss no shit but not two people at the same time asshole! Then she told him to move on it was time for her set and jumps up and busts off 12 chins! Boom Baby!

Quad's example is an extreme one and I def. would've been pissed....however, in general, as much as I can't stand ignorance...we have to remember that at one time, no matter how long ago it was, we all were a bit ignorant to gym ettiquette....also, what does it matter at all if the ignorant dude is a skinny little fuck with 14'' arms and popsicle stick legs...why do bros always have to throw that in when they're raging on someone ..do these particular physical characteristics have anything to do at all with the issue at hand, everyone has the right to train..no matter how big or small they are...if it was a 250lb Test. monkey with 21'' arms standing in front of the mirror, would that have made a difference...everyone deserves equal respect. I'm DEF not saying that these ignorant people shouldn't be spoken to, but theres a way to do it...a way to make us big juiced up bodybuilders sound and look as intelligent and articulate as many of us are....a simple, "hey bro, could ya move a bit, I'm in the middle of my set and I need the mirror" would prob suffice, and I would guess the dude would be wiser for the experience....If theres one thing I can't stand is a juiced up meathead that acts like the stereotypical arrogant on-the-verge-of-ripping-someones-head-off roid-rager....I've personally witnessed it several times and its an embarrassment to all us gear users...it contributes so negatively to the damaging detrimental stereotype that steroids cause uncontrollable outbursts and rage. If this is truly how you must act when cycling..then I guess you cant handle doing steroids, stick with creatine. I mean, I get a bit edgier when on, but I always keep it in stride to promote and uphold a positive image for us gear users...I think it is of utmost importance that especially nowadays, we do whatever possible to prove these stereotypes wrong....we as Gear users are all on a federally-funded fast track to becoming public enemy number 1...we must fight this, otherwise we might as well be signing up as posterboys for the next Fox Anti-Steroid special...just my .02 "sense"...

lol, I'm with you on this bro

and I like what you say about asking nicely, if you act like a jack ass you might as well start swinging cos I'm not moving

The general point here is gym etiquette and simple courteousy. However, 20 feet is quite a distance and the guy may not have known you were even there. If there were other equipment inbetween you and the mirror, then with all due respect the guy has the right to use it. However, when the mirror is only a few feet away that's a whole different story. When someone clearly sees you doing a set and there are other things to use that don't construe ones view, one should have the manners to give someone else space.

Something that happened to me in the past one time was that I ran out of water so I had to use the water fountain. As I was drinking some prick wanted to use the fountain and practically pressed his body right up against mine. So I get up and tell the guy politely, "You mind giving me some space to drink? Don't worry there will be plenty of water left for you." Fuckin guy was so close to I could have beat his ass down then charged him for sexual harassment.

why were you squatting somewhere where people needed access to get weights?

dont get me wrong, you might not have explained it well and you might be 100% in the right, but at the same time you should chat to your gym managment to set the gym out so that this doesnt happen again

personally i hate people that are inconsiderate in where they stand/lay to do their exercises, like the guys taht do dumbbell curls right in front of the rack. personally i just cruise right on in and grab the weight from in front of them. if it ruins your set, its your own bloody fault. think before you do something.

anyway to the original poster of this thread, being polite is free. being impolite usually costs you reputation, and maybe a friend. if you had told me to get the fuck out of your way i would have told you that doing weights with your hand on your dick is pretty fucking amazing :)

20 feet is out in the burbs mate, cool it

So I'm clear. You would be just a content in a gym with no mirrrors? Youre such a dick and I'll leave it at that. I used to workout in the Worlds Gym in Severna Park, MD. and I learned a lot from listenening and training with the owner. Its amazing no matter what gym you walk in from Maine to Cali 99.99% of them have mirrors, the .01% are for the blind.

There are 4 or 5 squat racks set up in a row, each with their own racks for weights. The guy next to me didn't have whatever weight he needed, and decided he had to get it from me.

anyway, I'm still with FknKnuckleHd. I'm very aware of guys doing sets around me. Even though 20 ft sounds like alot, the guy could have stood 5 feet to the left or right. And it's easy to say that he *could* have been more polite.
So next time someone cuts you off in traffic, pull up next to the guy and say, "Excuse me sir, could you watch where you're going next time?" instead of flipping him off and shouting "asshole!" out the window.
Or the next telemarketer that calls say, "Could you call me back after dinner so we can discuss this further?" instead of just rudely hanging up.

Right away this is because he's a juicer and he's furthuring the stereotype. When in fact, it was important enough for the other guy to stand right in front of the mirror, but not important enough for him to notice if anyone else was. I just think that's stupid. And with all the stupidity we deal with from day to day in life, sometimes someone gets an earful.

I guess I shouldn't say that. From the sound of it, none of you guys ever release some anger on some bullwinkle in your lives. I guess that makes me the asshole of the board.

So now im a dick???????? mirrors dont mean anything to me..moving weight and getting big are what its about..i understand about getting pissed like in quads example or if im im pullin big and someone walks in the rack to grab a weight!! i guess ur just obsessed with looking at yourself 20 feet away..which is fine more power to you but dont for one second think your gods gift to the gym..there are 20 like you in every gym across america!!!

Yes,mirrors are nice but you don't really need them to workout.

Only metrosexuals absolutely NEED the mirrors.

The examples aren't the same. Someone cutting you off in traffic has the potential to hurt you or someone else, and puts yourself or others in jeopard.

The guy could have done a lot of things. It's most likely that he hadn't a clue and 20 ft is a long damn way to worry about whether you're infront of someone lookin in a mirror. Just for fun, I tried to see exactly what I could tell from 20 ft away in the mirrror at the gym, and the answer is not a fucking thing.

This sterotype has more to do with bullies in life and the gym. As I'm sure you've seen or expereinced yourself, as one gains size and confidence in the gym, the tendency is to belittle, bully and just be rude or obnoxious to those around you who aren't as large or developed. Hell you can see enough evidence of that in a significant number of these threads. Someone juicing may or may not aggravate the situation. I'm no different when I'm on or off the juice. When I'm in the gym I'm focused on what I'm doing an how I'm doing it and have likely gotten in someone's way or view without even noticign I've done so. Most of the time it's easy enough to see who's using what mirrors based on where they equipment is. But 20ft? I'd not even give it a second thought.

Nah, I'm sure there are more. :p Just look around, you'll find plenty who think the world revolves around them, and that they're the only one who's important. That they have the Dog given right to be an asshole to others who most likely have no intention to offend or cause a disruption. It seems sometimes that the same people who'll bitch about the lack common courtesy are also the last ones to extend it...

Tiger? What the fuck is that bro? That shit is funny as hell! There is one thing going off on a wimp in the gym ( which is wrong ). It is another thing going off on somebody who is flat out fucking dumb!!! We're bigger and more in rage than these, what I like to call "regular people". Let's not go off on the them the first time. Notice I said the "first time". First time shit happens, get up in their face ( this is letting them know your serious ) and with a smile ( as if it were funny, sort of to break the ice), let them know that what they did was wrong. Second time...well...hell is going to break lose! Just like 2 years ago, I was doing hyperextension for lowerback with weights. And this stupid bitch comes up to me and decides to start asking me questions about the exercise I was doing and how many sets I had left. I'm there all fucking sweating, huffing and puffing and groaning. I just looked at here hard and ignored her. My wife saw what happend and she went off on this girl for me! Ah!! What a wife heh? Commited and loyal to her husband. Well, I figured, since she is going off on her, then I'll decide to finish it. I too went off on her. What do you think this bitch said??? Same shit all stupid bitches say. FINE..FORGET YOU! And walks away. Typical stupid dumb bitch attitude heh? Oh yeah, a couple of months ago, I sat down on the chest fly machine. Grabbed and pull one side and then the other. I then started my first rep and some dumb fat fuck decides to try to squeeze by my left side and of course TOTALLY FUCKS OVER MY REP!!! You fucking dumb fat ass I said!! What the fuck are you doing!? Go around you fat fuck! Guys, no lie, the music in the gym stopped! LMFAO!!! Everybody stopped and looked. And all this fat fuck said was " I did go around"!!! I just told him to get out of my face! He walked away, music came back on and everybody continued their workouts!

I see it all the time with bros unable to control their anger and throwing a beating to another guy - they cry like bitches when their sentenced to some jail time. lol

That's the problem with AAS, it give you a feeling of invicibility.

In my gym, a guy who you would consider small was talking to a woman. Turns out she was the g/f of a huge guy. Big guy start yelling/cursing. Little guy appologizes. G/f tries to calm him down saying little guy did nothing wrong. Little guy walks away, big guy smacks him on the head. Little guy turns and drops the big guy. The only thing his size did was make him look good going down and making a loud thump. Little guy was a professional boxer. Bet the big guy would have liked that info. Never saw big guy again.

Since were not talking about steriods on the steriod board anyway I'll throw in my two cents. First off I know we all get a little on edge when were on but that said we all need to remember that being big though never a bad thing in a fight doesn't mean that you know how to fight and someone who does (me) is not at all intimidated by men larger than me. Now you guys don's start crawling out of the woodwork wanting to fight I have had my ass beat plenty of times by guys smaller and bigger than me but it was alwayse because he was better not bigger. Knucklehead if thats you in the avatar you are a little bigger than me but by no means are you going to get in my face and tell me to get the fuck out of your way. I'm not trying to pick a fight or piss you off. But an ass beating in your own gym by a smaller man would really suck. :mix:

That's the problem with AAS, it give you a feeling of invicibility.

LOL! Props to the little guy. I hate people who think the world revolves around themselves. People do make simple mistakes.

I always tell myself and my wife and my friends, "just because someone is smaller than you, doesn't mean that they can't kick your ass!". Shit bros! Smaller guy might have a knife, a gun, be part of a mafia, know some deadly martial art or just be way stronger than you!.

Gotta love it. I train in Bjj and Mixed martial arts our dojo moved next door to a gym and we started getting a bunch of huge guys in there. Strength and size are great but it is fun as shit to square off at 210 with a guy weighing 265 drop him to the mat lock him up and make him tap out.....Makes my day every time.
