Doing stairs?

Hi everyone

I am new and this board looks great. I have lurked for a while. Everyone is so nice and inviting. First question...

I walk in the mornings before breakfast for cardio. I have just healed 3 stress fractures in my foot so I can't do much more, but I have decided to try stairs at the end of my walking sessions.

Is running stairs anabolic or aerobic? Thanks...B

If you are able to run stairs on your foot, I'm not sure what you "can't" do?? I mean running stairs or what we used to call "running stadiums" in high school track, is great exercise. The step up / down motion is good ham / quad / glute work. You can make it aerobic or anaerobic depending on how fast you are going. You can make it interval training as well if you run up & walk down. Or if you carry weights you can make it more of an lifting exercise as well.

To me it seems fairly hi-impact tho... ? How hard is that on your foot?

I should have explained further. I plan to walk "walk fast" first to see how my foot reacts then build on speed if I can. Thanks for your response.
