Does Soreness = GROWTH?

JUICEMAN

I have been debating this for a long time. Do you feel that the only way you stimulated growth is if you are sore the next day. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

i dont know how to attatch threads, but if you do a search for soreness, on I believe the third page, maybe forth, there is a good argument on this.

People are always arguing about this.

Personally, i like being sore. It reminds me that i worked my ass off, and that i am growing.

It also reminds me to eat. I feel like my body needs nutrients when i'm sore!

correlation does not prove cause and effect. But I think that being sore is a indication that you did work hard however it is not neccesary for growth.

Soreness is not in indicator of growth. It just hurts. If you workout real hard one day and are not sore should you bendover backwards to get sore? Would that indicate growth? No is the logical answer. Productive growth is stimulated by going to positive failure because there is no other rep of a set that can produce growth except for the last rep of a set.

:D

Nah I dont think soreness is an indicator of growth at all.. I do think that its an indicator that you really stressed out a certain muscle group really well, but too many other things come into play when trying to determine if your growing. Proper nutrition, enough sleep, etc. are all large factors in determining whether your going to grow or not. :D:D

Soreness is an indicator of muscular damage and the growth process. That doesn't mean you will grow per se, because there are a lot more factors involved.

It would be correct to say that soreness is an indicator of growth, but as Dave Tate says "Anyone can get sore, but very few can get very big and strong".
