god mine's kicking in from holding my mcdonald's coke... made me cold and now not just my hands, but my feet are getting numb. i just put a heater on my feet...

does anyone else here get this? i hate it!

i can't find info on the net.. maybe i spelled it wrong

apparently it's genetic and tall/thin women tend to get it. my sister has it and so does my aunt, besides me. when i get cold (which can mean just walking past the freezer in the grocery store) my hands and feet turn white, my nails go purpley and my fingers and toes feel numb. it takes a while to get the blood back in there and then it goes away.

i think it's pretty harmless but it's just annoying though.

no the only thing that helps it is heat i find... i can get it even while wearing my moccasins or while outside on a hot day... it sucks.

and btw i'm finally warmed up again.. well, my hands are still cold but i have feeling now.

merci babe...

i thought i must've spelled it wrong

i've had it since i was ten.

my sister turns yellow... i turn white and purpley...

If you learned how to spell, you would have better luck smalls.. if you see above, I found you a couple of links. Sorry to hear about your affliction, thankfully it sounds only mildly discomforting, and it does not seem life threatning.

yeah and the other thing i was reading was the circulatory disorder thing... i ALWAYS have cold hands and feet... just like my mum and grandma... i can never keep them warm PLUS my hands and feet freeze FAST in cold weather.

lol and you make fun of my spelling... that's probably one of the rare times i've made a spelling error mr steriod typo ;)

No, its not that fact that you spelled it wrong, it the fact that it is a disease that YOU HAVE. If I had a disease I would know EVERYTHING about the motherfucker.. including how to spell it. Knowledge is key smalls....

yeah well my sister the doc told me info about it... it's nothing serious so i don't really need a whole lot of knowledge on it. if it were life-threatening i might make a point to know more about it.

aha! i just read that caffeine might have caused it.. and from looking at all the empty dr pepper cans around my room... i'm thinking it's time to cut down again... :(

You could switch to diet Dr. Pepper. Although, I hear it tastes like ass...

Diet Sprite is where it's at.

I know this dude, his skin is always purpley.
When you press your finger on his skin, you can see a white mark of where your finger was for like 10 minutes.
Similar thing?

sort of... but men don't tend to get it...

it's more like my blood drains from my hands/feet or just one finger or toe and then it's numb until it gets better

OK kiddies... PLAY FUCKING NICE!!

Anyways... yes, I have it too. Had it since I was a kid. Practically had to wear socks to bed in the freaking summer - LOL! Over the past several years since I have put on some LBM and some bodyfat (I used to be horribly skinny.) it is not nearly as bad. Now that the winter is here and my bf% is around 13/14% it is somewhat noticeable... sucks ass. I have to take a hot bath before bedtime just so I don't feel like a freaking popsicle. Although, after I eat, I perspire like a horse ....hehehhehee

My third daughter (who is the thickest - ALL OF MY GIRLS are varying degrees of skinny) seems to be the same way. Conversely, other three are always hot - running around the yard with no jacket and it is like 45 - 50 degrees. GEEZE! It is like I have to duct tape the damned coats to their backs..... I am constantly yelling at them, "Put your coat on for goodness sake! Aren't you cold?" The answer, "No, mommy." What is up with that?!

so what happens when people with this get on dnp?

when on dnp, I could go hiking in 2 feet of snow completely naked and still not even notice.

seem that poor circulation would be bad at assisting the heat removal and bad things would happen... but I'm just wildly guessing.

Raynaud's pnenomenon is a vasospastic disorder generally involving arterioles of the hands, distal lower extrmeties, and ears.

It can be primary or secondary. The most common cause of the secondary pathology is connective tissue diseases arising from autoimmune dysfunction (ex. is Scleroderma, Lupus). My hypothesis is that you have a primary disorder, which is certainly preferable.

It manifest's in three stages:

1. Pallor: the initial vasospam causes decreased cutaneous blood flow causing numbness, parasthesias, and pain in the affected digits.

2. Cutaneous cyanosis: the digits develop a blue-purple color caused by deoxygenated blood flow in the capillary bed.

3. Hyperemia: reopening of the digital artery resulting in increased blood flow to the affected digits causing blushing of the skin.

It can be triggered by cold temperatures, emotional stress, and drugs like tobacco, caffeine, antihistamines, amphetamines, cocaine, and especially B-blockers (atenolol).

Obviously, attempt to avoid exposing your epidermis to frigid weather and attenuate emotional stress. If this is unavoidable or unsuccesful, I think calcium channel blockers are still the drug of choice(nifedipine). Although I would trully reccommend you attempt to control the situation without pharmacologic intervention.

it can be passed on from the mother to her sons, but men tend not to have as severe symptoms as women. I got it from my mom.

Al, It's actually called "Reynaud's " Syndrome. I don't remember much about it except the cold hand thing-and that was way back in nursing school.

\Knee Pads... No, its actually called Raynauds.. here is the RAYNAUDS Foundation hope page if you want to argue the point with them, but I think the foundation ought to have the proper spelling...

By the way, thanks for chiming in Mr. Helper... Next time maybe you can try to add more to the conversation besides correcting non existant spelling errors?? Just a little friendly advice..
