Do i have a concussion?

So i was at judo training on friday and i got taken down by a leg sweep and hit the back of my head really hard such that i saw a white flash for about a split second. I didn't feel dizzy or nauseous afterwards, just a little sore at the back of my head, however i was quite disoriented afterwards and couldn't really concentrate my thoughts.
This morning i woke up and my neck hurt, it doesn't feel stiff but it seems more like a muscle ache. Did not experience anything else other than that. Not much of a headache either. I googled the symptoms of a concussion but i do not seem to have any of them other than the aching neck and a slight headache that i would rate 1 or 2 upon 10 in terms of pain. However i got really worried when i read that symptoms could take days or even weeks to surface and there could be bleeding in the brain. Is it possible that i had a concussion, or was it just a hard knock to the head? Please advise. Thanks.

Without a CAT scan, there's no way to know for sure. Monitoring your symptoms will give you a better idea over time, but it's a just guessing without that scan.

Thanks, well its been almost 2 days now, and i don't feel any worse compared to yesterday, apart from a sore neck. Strangely my head does not hurt at all, No vomitting and nausea.

You could have strained (whiplash) or sprained your neck instead of/as well as a mild concussion.

Outside of medical diagnostic testing, problems with cognition are the most common sign of a concussion.

Little suggestion, wait until your neck is back to normal before doing any sparring.

You should seek professional medical advice immediately and have a follow up consultation at 2, 4 & 6 weeks.

If he was gonna die it would have happened by now :whatever:

My concern isnt that he may die. More to do with bruising and pressure or even the development of a cyst that potentially could cause brain damage and cognitive issues in the future.

Serious brain injury reveals itself within 48 hours and manifests with at least one of the following symptoms: Puking, dizziness, unusual or exceptionally severe headaches, disorientation/memory issues, visual problems, problems with coordination and/or walking, difficulties with either speaking or comprehending speech.

For the record I think the O/P should see a doctor too but only if he's still suffering from pain that isn't improving or feels somehow out of sorts. Otherwise I assume everyone else is in the same boat as myself and has insurance that rapes you in terms of deductibles.
