how do you know that you have not lost fat? do you regularily get checked? (bf callipers)....I think you might be mistaken, or you might not be eating enough for your activity level.

Are you the type of person that looks in the mirror all the time? If so, STOP IT! Reason i said that is because i used to do that all the time and used to get pissed because i thought i wasn't losing any weight until i tried on my 33w pants!:D

yep, the pants size is what will tell you. I couldnt figure out why I had to keep putting holes in my belt to make is tighter, then I realized, "Holy shit, I'm losing fat!" lol, but honestly it is tough to not look in the mirror after a hard ass workout or whatever, but just keep it up and it will happen. :D

ya good point. also like Mr x said, up your cals, break them up over several meals. you are probably not eating as much as you think. www.fitday.com. go there spend some time to figure it out. man, when i finally totaled my daily food up, i was eating like a bird, didnt even really realize it.

so are you saying if your not eating enough then fat loss will halt? what is considered not eating enough?

i eat about 2000 a day, im trying to loose 2lbs a week

i sit in class all day, and work out 1hr 3or4X a week
with cardio about the same

am i not eating enough?

Bro, are you eating the right foods and also you may be eating more to compensate for the increased exercise and not realizing it. I do that alot. I hope that helps

Incorporate some weight training in there, cardio + diet is a good combo, but you lose more fat by increasing muscle mass, the more muscle you have the more fat it will burn. Fat works by way of OILO ( once in last out ) fat stores easily, but you gotta go through a couple of layers to get at it for lipolysis ( i.e. macronutrients -> glycogen stores (liver, muscle) -> fat, once the former two are depleted ( by working out ) your body will tap fat, and hopefully make some large withdraws. Make sure your diet has a lot of protein to minimize on muscle loss.

I could be totally wrong here, but that's how my body responded to fat loss ( and believe me I 'had' lots of it! )

I wonder if I'm eating too little??

Here is my caloric breakdown yesterday:

Approximately 1400 calories.
195g protein
50g fat
20g carbs

I'm 6'2" and probably about 180lbs at the moment.... not sure about my bodyfat, never had it checked.... but I would estimate around the 10% mark.

most mornings (not every morning) I do 45-60 minutes moderate cardio. And I do heavy weights about 4 or 5 times a week in the late afternoon followed by 20 minutes or so moderate cardio. According to the treadmill (which probably isn't very accurate since there are so many variables) 20 minutes at the pace I walk burns just over 200 calories. Which means I'm burning about 600 a day from cardio....

.... dunno how much I'm burning from weights, but it's usually pretty intense.

I try to drink a fair bit of water too.

Is that too much of a calorie deficit? How can I improve it?

It depends on what you're trying to do. Are you trying to maintain ? I doubt you could maintain on the diet you just mentioned coupled with the workout regimen, but I've found that if you do a lot of weight training and cardio on a reduced calorie diet, you won't lose much fat for as long as you might like, your body will go into starvation mode sooner, couple your regimen with some carb-ups, it'll help you see more results quicker, you just have to go through the mental game of water bloat.
