Diet and blood type

Depends on the person. I eat a 60% protein diet, and my workouts don't suffer at all. This is the oddity that a few of us experience and are trying to figure out.

I eat a wide variety of proteins, and seem to react the same to all of them (milk, egg, casein, whey, chicken, beef, fish, pork, etc...). It's carbs that I react funny to. For example, oatmeal and sweet potatoes are fine, but rice and other grains knock me down for the count. As I once told Wilson6, if I want to take a two hour nap, all I have to do is eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Toss in that Dr. Pepper that BBF mentioned, and I'm gonna be in a coma. lol

Well, I am a type O and I actually have been trying to move towards a diet w/ less carbs. I have oatmeal for bfast and lean meat (chick, buffalo, beef, tuna, salmon) for the rest of my meals along w/ salads and lots of brocolli.

My question for y'all:
Don't you miss bread, pasta, potatoes, etc????? God, I love that stuff. Do the cravings for it ever go away? To be 100% honest, I would be perfectly content if I never ate another salad or vegetable again in my life! Meat is OK, but I could live the rest of my life on pizza alone. Sorry for the digression.

That's the thing...not only do I not like what it does to me, but I don't like it and don't crave it. I could go the rest of my life without pasta or potatoes and that would be just fine.

Spatts, you may very well be hypoglycemic. It isn't like you need carbs to survive or even gain muscle mass. Too people people get caught up in the hype that they MUST have large amounts of carbs to gain muscle. Sure, you'll gain a little faster if you load up on them periodically, but they certainly are not required for growth in the body, or for health. Assuming one doesn't do a great deal of cardio, all of their glycogen needs could be supplied by a high protien intake. It isn't like the type of heavy training spatts does burns a huge amount of calories (which would greatly reduce glycogen stores) that must be replenished.

woof, sure I miss not eating pizza every day, its my favorite food, but do miss being fat, and having a horrible body. It comes down to what you really want.

BBF, Oh I am with you for sure on that one - that is why I eat the meat and brocolli instead of the pizza!!!

And Spatts, I am envious of your dislike of carbs and love of meat and veggies. I was kind of hoping that if I weaned (sp?) myself off of the carbs that I eventually wouldn't crave them anymore.

I am in the middle of a cheat week since my racing season has just ended and was surprised to find that I really don't WANT most of the junk that I thought I was depriving myself of (mostly sweets). Unfortunately, I still crave pasta and bread. I try to make do by eating whole wheat pasta and making my own whole grain breads. Next week its back on the wagon! Gotta love the 3lb bags of brocolli at Costco!

Nope. Blood levels have been checked several different times and under different circumstances, and all is well. :)

Are you crazy?

lol

Come train with me sometime. Bring a snack.

...and yes, you do need carbs to grow efficiently, and you can't burn fat without carbs either.
