Depressed girlfriends trying to help eachother...

Hmmm if you are suffering clinical depression, it's likely to hvae been lurking in the backgorund for a while, and set off by the perm. It could be your anxieties about your upc, ming surgery surfacing?

I would firswt of all find a good doctor and get a diagnosis, and antidepressants if the diagnosis is MDD (major depressive disorder).

Also, the guilt of depression leads people to isolate themselves - this is a bad idea. Your firend and partner would much rather you cried on their shoulder than isolted yourself from the world. OTOH, if they don't understand what is involved with depression, then they may not be of much help.

www.mentalhealth.com (either with or without the -, can't remember) has a lot of info plus links that they might find useufl. Also check the FAQ for the alt.support.depression newsgroup.

Cognitive therapy is good when combined with medication, look into this too. If you want me to send you more links, PM me.

Thank you for that link, Circusgirl. I went there and although I have some depression, seems like I'm really dealing with Posttraumatic Stress which is the cause of the depression. That makes sense. I simply think time will help me with this because all of the things that are freaking me out will be better, but they will take time to do. I've always been a "loner" with the exception of my immediate family, so I don't think I'm really isolating myself. I just don't want my g/f feeling like I'm shutting her out, I just need my own space and time for my normal routine daily activities, and that's something I have been saying for weeks now anyway. I tend to do a lot of thinking when I'm alone, usually this puts me in a wonderful mood...I guess my thoughts haven't been usual, hence the crying spells. It'll all work out in time though and when my thoughts aren't good ones, I'll try to change to better ones if I find myself dwelling on them too much.

Thanks again for that link. Made me feel better about my mental state at least! :)

I love you

I'm so sorry sweetie if I make you feel like I am smoldering you, I just care about you and I want to help...I will give you all the space and time you need....you just let me know...again I am always here for you if you need a sholder or an ear...I love you lots.... :bigkiss: :loveyou: :rose: :friends:

Thank you, sweetie. I love you too, very much.

I just like to do things by myself a lot of the time. It's how I am. The only other person I tend to rely on is my husband, he's a great comfort to me at all times. I guess that's what happens when you've been with someone for half of your life. And like he said, I even shut him out at times, so don't feel like I'm pushing you away at all, please.

Warm hugs and kisses to ya! Hmmm...maybe a little tongue too. :p
