Deadlift

I have finally broken the 300lb deadlift barrier. sheit, after doing deads at 295 for like weeks, I decided to do singles to see if I could break the barrier, and I did gracefully. three plates on each side and I lifted it like it was nothing. which brings me to ask this, are singles good once in a while to break the monotony or are they good for every workout for a specfic exercise?

btw, I weigh in at 180lbs soaking wet with rocks in my pocket, and I am about 5'10.5...

also champ try throwing in some 20 rep sets of 225 for endurance

DR. NOE: Why do you say that 1 rep maxes are dangerous in the deadlift? The guys at Westside Barbell Club do several sets of 1 rep each for deadlift. I do this as well and it has helped out my max tremendously.

HighIntensity: What is the purpose of training the hamstrings for endurance? Unless you're a middle-distance runner or something like that. The hamstrings are comprised primarily of fast-twitch muscle fibers and thus respond better to lower reps.

Agreed...

I agree with Skizac. If there is one exercise to be trained with a minimal number of reps and infrequently it's the deadlift. Doubles, triples and singles are all that is needed for most. Invaribly, what happens with high rep deads is a form breakdown which can be dangerous. The hamstrings are primarily made up of fast twitch muscle fibers and therefore should be trained with heavy weight and explosively (good form) for maximal strength and size gains. My 2 cents.

Why don't i ask this question to the guy who made my routine up...Why the hell are we doing 5 sets of 10 deads. WTF...i don't see the point either and when i am done i feel like i am going to puke and my hands are raw.:)

Still though...any benefit?

A friend of mine one nationals and state competitions doing
425 @ 126 BW. He does several 1 rep sets every other deadlifting session. He says it works best to add that in on top of your regular low rep sets.

for the past six months, I have been doing deads all wrong. I would do 5x8. with this routine, I got nowhere fast! I thougt I would eventually go up in weight, but it never happened. I was burning my self out so quickly. then I tried them in sets of 3, 2, and 1. I was able to lift a little more, as well as not burn the fuck out of my lower back so quickly, but still be able to build. this was just a post of improvement.

and HI, I will take your advice. I have gone back to my old routine since your variation of arnold's burnt me the fuck out. I did like it though...:fro:
