Dark circles under eyes????

fortlaud

New member
For a long time I've had chronic dark circles under my eyes. Everyone (incl several docs) has said vitamin k deficiency, so I've made a point of eating foods with vitamin k (greens, broc., spinach, etc) & nothing, I've taken vitamin k pills & used vitamin k cream---nothing.

& its not from sleep loss as I usually don't have a problem with sleep. & no I havn't had the hell beaten out of me ; )

Anybody ever tried "Hylexon" or any other commercial stuff? A tiny tube of this crap is expensive as hell, so I thought I'd ask around before forking out the $$$

Any ideas??? Hep, a racoon out ; )

Isn't it partly genetic?

You can try to increase your vitamins A & E intake too

Hey dudes,

I don't think its genetic in my case since none of my other relatives seem to have it---& this trait seems to be genetic more for Mediterranean types rather than Northern Europeans. When all else fails, I guess an allergist could run a screen, but before I go through about 100 shots (& still might not know anything after that) I wanted to exhaust a few other options. I hadn't heard about A & E---thats worth a shot.

Thanks guys

This may sound funny, but I know a lot of people that put Preparation H around there eyes before bed. I've seen it work on quite a few people. Hope this helps you out!!!!

Your doctor's diagnosis of a Vitamin K deficiency may only be partially correct as Vitamin K is associated with blood clotting properties. For future reference, a Vitamin K deficiency can be caused by the following:
  • diet is high in salicylates found in nuts and fruits
  • use of antibiotics
  • Candida infections
  • malabsorption syndromes
  • Celiac disease
  • Chrohn's disease
  • Anticoagulants
  • high amounts of Vitamin A and E as they will prevent the absorption of Vitamin K
  • antacids

Likely causes of your dark circles under your eyes are;
  • Heredity (but you have ruled that out)
  • Sun Exposer: can increase the content of melanin (pigmentation) under the thin skin around the eyes
  • Allergies, Asthma, Eczema: Some foods can darken the skin around the eyes. In your case, I would have a look at any foods containing 'wheat' and remove them from your diet for a few weeks, if you can, and then slowly reintroduce them and note the effects, if any.
  • Medications: Any medications which cause the blood vessels to dilate may also have an effect.
  • Fatigue / Lack of Sleep: You may spend 8 hours in bed but if they are not restfull hours then this may also contribute. Your daily physical activity may also place your body under excessive stress and cause fatigue.
  • Nutirtion: Make sure your diet is balanced.
  • Pregnancy / Menstration: Although I hope this isn't a problem for you, lol, it can also produce a darkening of the skin under the eyes.
  • Age: As you get older, the skin loses its elasticity and muscle tone and may become thinner, making any darkened areas around the eyes more pronounced.

You can use facial creams containing Vitamin C, K, Alpha-hydroxy acid and Kinetin to lessen the effects of the darkened areas but for more severe conditions you would have to consult with a physician ..... or a vet if you are half raccoon as Irish Pride said. :D

Dude I have suffered with this shit since I was 16. I have been on many different diets and have tried many different supplements. The only thing i have gathered from reading plastic surgery messageboards and getting involved in dark circles clubs online, is that the cause of these circles (not the puffyness if you have that) is what that hylexia product you mentioned says the cause is, which is something to do with the blood vessels under the eyes, that hylexia supposedly fixes, however I've read posts from people who have tried it, and many aresaying after 3 weeks they are getting no results.

If you notice, look in the mirror, and kind of like stretch the fat from your cheeks up under your eyes, like youre giving yourself a facelift. You will notice the circles disappear. I firmly believe the only way to get rid of this shit is go see a GOOD plastic surgeon a board certified one, and ask about a lower lid blepharoplasty. Honestly nothing I have excluded from, or included into my diet over many many years has caused these things to go away even the least bit. Save up 5 grand and have the surgery done.
