Daisy, I was wondering, when you were on your clean, cutting diet, approximately how many calories were you taking in per day?

I'm never sure how to determine how many calories is appropriate for me when I'm dieting, and it ends up being a trial and error thing for me. Would you recommend eating (10 x bodyweight) or (12 x bodyweight - 500)? I've seen both recommended.

What usually works best for you? (and others!)

Do 12 x body weight - 200 once you stop losing cut another 200 and so on tell you reach your goal but NEVER go below 1000 calories per day. It easy you into it more and are more likely to keep losing.

I tend to think 10-11x BW for cutting BF. I can cut on lower calories because my body naturally will hold onto muscle (less than 10xBW). But normally, I think going under 10xBW isn't really a good idea - but it all depends on your BW and your body type. :)

What QT said is a good idea. Take 12xBW - what is that number? Start there and carefully monitor results. If you are losing BF, stay there until results slow/stop. When you plateau, cut ~200 calories. Carefully monitor results. Again, when you plateau, drop another 100-200 calories.

It takes about 4 weeks to really see true changes, so don't drop calories too quickly or you will end up screwed. :)

Thanks Shadow, Superqt, and Daisy :)

LOL, yes, i think it's easy to get impatient and think, 'i better drop my calories lower!' When I was younger I, like a lot of people, used to think that eating very little and starving myself was the key to weight loss, but I've since learned. :)
