Cutting weight for a contest.

Deciever

New member
For an upcoming contest of mine(powerlifting), im going to have to cut about 7-8 lbs.

The contest is June 15th..

I plan on starting to some cardio, and i need some weighs to drop a lot of water weight.

i was thinking about dandelion root, to drop a few lbs, just because it is one of the few things not banned by the federation.

Any other ideas on how i could cut weight for the contest?

Im not to sure of an answer for you, but all i have to say is becarefull so you dont lose any strength. Ive seen it happen.

strengthloss should be minimal... within a weeek of the contest, i should probably only have a few more lbs to lose, so i wont have to worry much about strength loss

Well not sure if you want to get into serious waterloss pills but ARBUTEROL is an over the counter water loss pill that helped me lose 10lbs of water in 3 days I was pissing soo much bro it ain't even funny. I don't know if your too young for that stuff in your system, BUT as long as your not going for some type of record break then just lift in the upper class and gain weight and trust me you'll be stronger.

Cubanito, i plan on taking some dandelion root, as it is one of the few things allowed by the USAPL. After this contest i am definately moving up.

Im not moving up for this one because it is my first sanctioned meet, and i PLAN on setting all 4 records for my weight class.

If i didnt have school and stuff cardio would be easy, but its a pain to wake up 5:30 and do cardio :(

Just carb deplete. Assuming you are going to weigh-in the night before.

Otherwise, you can cut your carbs some, as opposed to zero, if you are going to weigh in day of, so as not to lose too much strength. You would not have enough time to fully re-carb if you cut them entirely and only had about an hour to re-load. Dropping your carbs the last week slightly will also cause you to lose water, as every gram of stored glycogen holds 3-4 grams of water.

Keep your cardio very light.

I dont think Carb depleteing is a good idea. He is doing a powerlifting Meet not a bodybuilding show. IF anything he wants to up his carbs the week of the meet. When you carb deplete it makes you tired, ive seen it happen. Carbs is a source of energy. Really the best thing for him to do is to watch what he eats. do extra cardio if you need it. Burn Some Calories, and make sure your eating low fat foods.

Deciever what weight class are you doing and at what age? what are your goals for the meet?

You are on track with that dandelion root Deciever. I took dandelion root an it is like $6 for a big bottle. I took double the dosage and dropped water weight easily. Also I was chewing redman tobacco and spitting-dropping water. I filled up most of an empty 2 liter bottle in one night too-that was a few pounds there so with under $10 with the dandelion and chew it was painless and it works!!

freak, im competing in the 132's, im 14. I have to weigh-in within 2 hours of the meet for my lifts to be able to be counted towards the record.

Hopefully the dandelion root will help, as it isnt a prescription diuretic so it isnt banned by the USAPL.
