Cutting Advice?

Hi,

So I want to cut about 10lbs or so while maintaining as much muscle as possible. Am I on the right track as to simply cutting calories, primarily from carbs and do some low intensity cardio or HIIT?

Is there any other nutritional, workout, supplement tips or advice you have for me. I have never done a real cut before.

Thanks,
Ben

I make my living training people for bodybuilding competitions. I have dieted hundreds of people to contest body fat levels. The most effective dietary strategy I have found to loose body fat, while holding onto all your muscle (or even continue to build muscle) is carb cycling. Here is a link to an article I wrote on how to set up a carb cycling diet for fat loss. It contains a full sample meal plan: http://www.evolutionary.org/forums/supplements/carb-cycling-exposed-trevor-44776.html

The problem with pro-longed low calorie diets is that they slow the metabolism and can cause muscle loss. Throwing in some high carb days refill glycogen levels, keep the muscle full and re-set leptin and thyroid levels.

As for supplements, a cardarine + n2slin stack is going to be your best bet for a weight loss stack that won't risk loosing any muscle.

Cardarine is drug that binds to the PPAR receptor and is non-hormonal. Cardarine increases the expression of genes involved in the expenditure of energy, stimulates glucose uptake in skeletal muscle tissue and burns fat by stimulating fatty acid oxidation.
N2slin is a non-stimulant fat burner and powerful nutrient partitioner. It increases insulin sensitivity of muscle cells and helps partition the food you eat into muscle cells and away from fat cells.
Take 20mg of cardarine gw per day. 10mg AM 10mg PM
Take 2 tablets N2slin 30 minutes before each meal you eat that contains a significant amount of carbohydrates.

Both are stimulant free and non-hormonal.

Cardarine is definitely a thing worth checking out if your goals are cutting. I will never do a cut without it anymore, haha

This was very help. Thanks so much. Over the last couple of days I have been looking around for cutting a techniques and a lot of people have been talking about intermittent fasting.

The most popular reference people used was Martin from Lean Gains.

Do you guys have any experience, thoughts, etc. on intermittent fasting? Is the Carb cycling technique better, worse, depends?

Carb cycling is definitely the better option, since your body is constantly fed, and you don't stress it by not giving it the nutrients that it needs. I really like the carb cycling, because it is a very effective diet where you can easily lose fat while maintaining your lean mass, and it is a very easy to follow diet. Besides, it does not exclude any foods, so you basically get all the nutrients that your body needs - just on determined days.

All in all, I would do as @muskate says, since he has given you some very good suggestions.

I hate intermittent fasting. It makes no sense at all. You will only end up storing more fat. Your body after going so long without food will think there is a famine coming and store fat. The best thing you can do is eat small meals every few hours and make sure you are in a caloric deficit of around 300-500 calories. Make sure to do some type of exercise every day and you will get there.

The one product I would add would be Cardarine. It will significantly help you with your cardio and also directly burn fat.

OK, thanks for the advice. This is really helpful. I will look more into this carb cycling and try to develop a meal plan that will work for me and follow the method.

By the way, 3 of you have now suggested Cardarine. Is this considered a steroid? What are the potential side effects?

Thanks again for all the help
