I have been eating half a cup or a cup of couscous every day for quite a few months. I always thought this was a version of brown rice so I was counting it as a complex carb, but today, I find out it is technically pasta!! After doing a quick search on google, I understand that there could be a whole wheat cous cous version, but I'm not sure what it is I'm eating.
I get it from Trader Joes and the ingredients are:
water, couscous, peas, red pepper, canola oil, salt, vegetable broth, pine nuts, garlic, black pepper.
Nutritional value is for half cup is:
Cals: 130, Fat: 1g, Carbs: 25g, Fiber: 2g, Protein:4g, Sodium:150mg, Sugar:0g
The stats aren't that different from the half cup of oats I also eat as a complex carb source though. Do you think the couscous is acceptable? I will be so sad if I have to toss this out because it's been my fave food while eating clean and it's been easy to transport around.
