Countdown to Clint Darden Fest!!!!!!

You know, I talked to B today. After days of deliberation, I finally decided to take the plunge, make the trip, and come down to help organize, do stats, etc...

And B didn't sound all that excited. Said he already had enough help.

Guess I'll just stay home. :spatts:

I didn't compete last time, and this time I'd just go to help set up and do stats. I just wanted to give B trouble for making me feel like pond scum. :)

I'll probably show up...just to race him (and win by more than a hair this time).

You know that was TOTALLY not my intention. I am OVERWHELMED with everything that I have to get done just to have this contest. Trying to make sure that ends meet, trying to pick up a sponsor or five for the contest, prizes to give away, getting enough competitors here to at least break even, etc...

I have two solid helpers as of now and I can only hope that as each competitor finishes an event that they will help me to set up for the next one. So much pressure...it just doesn't seem like a lot of fun...lol. I'd rather be a competitor.

I will find something for you...

I mean...you know how I like to flirt with you...but I was trying to not think tooooo dirty;)

B, how long have you known me? You know I'd come down early to help get set up...and I'd bring you a pan of my lasagna too. :)
 
damn, I wish I could get down to one of these...im stuck all the way up in Washington though, trying every saturday to get some of my friends to come out and flip a tire with me, or do farmers...

Well, 2 reasons. 1, I've never trained a single event; and 2, I have a PL comp 3 weeks later and don't want to risk anything.

Oh, and 3...I have no interest in the sport (in a competitive sense) at this point. B tries to talk me into trying it, but I dunno...

1)i understand, trinity and i are going up to B's next weekend to train so that she can get used to the events.

2) i 100% agree with that, and i'll wish you luck as well.

3) thats cool, but if you can come to help i know B will appreciate it, but Trinity would love to see you and have you there to watch her. your opinion of her is like how i value b folds opinion of me!!!!

Hey B - let me know if you get confirmation of anyone coming - I live in the DFW area. Not sure I could convince my wife to come as it's a 12 hour drive (according to mapquest) from here.

It's be neat to meet some of the peeps from this board though, and especially to watch the contest.

I have about 20 competitors as of now and hope to gain several more over the next couple of weeks.

I drove to DFW in 2001 for NASS Nationals...in October through all of the tornados...crazy.

They will either go straight across 44 from there, or come here to KC first. That or I will meet you guy sin Joplin and ride together from there. I dunno yet. Either way we can keep you company.
 
I wasn't hoping for a ride, but more to just travel with other people. Driving 12 hours by myself to try to meet a bunch of people I don't know doesn't sound like a lot of fun...

Perhaps I could go by way of Tulsa... it's not too far out of the way (adds like 3 hours according to Mapquest). You'll be meeting people there Spatts?

i know may not be much diff, but takes me 7hrs to get to dallas and only hour and half to get to clints
 
Just out of curiousity...how often do you see this on a board? Tons of people getting together, just to meet and train, and offering rides and accomodations to people they've never met, but think of as a "friend?"

If anyone wants to go, do not hesitate to ask for a ride or any kind of help. There are people coming from ALL OVER! We can get you there somehow. :)

and that is why this is the best board on the net....until i got into this i had never met so many nice and intersting people that are always willing to help out someone else.
 
i will be in kentucky soon for a while..but fort knox with my aunt. thats like 3.5 hours away from murray, and i dont know if my aunt would let me go/get me a ride there

Hmm 8.5 hours sounds much better than 15 (through Tulsa) or even 12. Although of course the times from Mapquest are pretty circumspect. Where are you located kingc?

i am located in southeast mo in the bootheel and mapquest told me 2hrs40min, so go figure, takes me more like 1hr30-40min. also try www.freetrip.com

The events are actually REALLY light for a Strongman contest...not near as bad as you would expect..

Hell ill go if someone can give me a ride, I live in Sarnia Ontario, theres a bridge here in my town to usa, I live across from Port Huron Michigan. (Detriot area..sorta)

if by chance anyone does live in this "area" and is going, I could go
 
yup. im in fort knox. talked to my aunt but as a prison guard in the army, it's probably a little tougher to get off.

do you think it would be possible to take a bus from radcliff to murray? i doubt it but that's at least a way i can get there

If you can get from detroit to St. Louis, I'll pick you up. It's like $150-200 for the flight. That's the best I can do. Maybe someone around here lives up your way and could split the cost of the trip with you...
 
Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to make it this time. I'm going to be in Houston this weekend for work.

make some phone calls to bus companies or whatever you got up there...it would be awesome for you to come

Unfortunately I don’t think I could get there, maybe another time around. Will there be another one? I would have more time to prepare next time around.
