Cortisol supplements causing muscle loss?

Just curious about some things I've read on EF and elsewhere... It sounds like cortisol is a bodybuilder's enemy, the way bros are talking. But other sources say it's needed for balance of other hormones when you're taking T or any other hormones. My doctor put me on 10 mcg/day, then reduced it to 5 mcg/day.

I don't know if I'm imagining it, but it seems like I'm getting better results in cutting and mass, with less cortisol. I reduced now from 5 mcg to about 3 mcg. Should I quit altogether, or might that bring on something I don't want?

What are some opinions from the experienced lifters here?

Thanks, Charles

I took cortisone for 8 months straight. It did not matter WHAT I did or WHAT ELSE I TOOK...I was going to be smaller and weaker every single week. Destroyed my skin, my bones, nearly shut down my kidneys and adrenal system, did shut down my natural anti-inflammatory system for a year (talk about pain), stomach ulcers, etc...

He put you on Cortisol? I didn't even know it was prescribed. What did he prescribe it for?

I'm not exactly sure... He basically said "to balance things". Cortisol is supposed to even out the mood, and make you not get mean & angry when you're hungry. (I get very dangerous if I'm hungry, and stay unfed)

I think it's different from cortisone. Sounds close, so must be related somehow though. I've had cortisone shots for joint problems in the past, and those do cause all kinds of water retention and rash problems.
