Concentration

When lifting, do you seem to concentrate on a spot (ceiling/wall), concenrate on doing the lift, or concentrate on breathing.

I know this is an odd question, i am just curious. I have a tendancy to only focus on my lift. I find it difficult to concenrate on more than one thing at once during a lift. My old training partner seemed to ONLY concentrate on a spot on the ceiling or wall. I was suprised since his form was so perfect.

I focus more on just the lift. I can't focus on just one spot because in comp. my surroundings will be different. As for breathing for lifting, I think it has become such a habit, that I can do it right without concentrating on it.

I concentrate on the ceiling light, it happens naturally for me. I never really thought of this until you mentioned it, but I always tend to concentrate on the walls or ceilings. Weird.

If I dont focus on the lift and my form, then i dont feel like i'll get it...or i'll get it sloppily.

If I use a focal point, its an imaginary spot, right in the center of my forehead.

If not, my focus is on what I'm about to do.

where i squat/deadlift there is a mirror dead infront, which is cool for checking form and stuff but you can see the stairs down into the gym right behind you and thats distracting as fuck, so i really focus on my lift more than anything now
