competition-oriented questions

Actually Fennec, I somewhat had in mind when posting this that you were very poised in your recent photos. You've done a nice job in that area :)

A friend of mine swears by posing and flexing at the end of his workout...yes, he's one of those mirror hogs/show offs....insists it increases the hardness of his muscles a lot.

Wow, thank you so much! I really appreciate that! :) :) :)

(we'll see if the judges agree)

I can't do it after a workout or cardio - my muscles start to shake too much and it makes me start feeling really crabby. I do better if I am pretty well rested.

You want to pose like fitness 1/4 turns...no difference and I did not bend my knees....stand up very tall and straight, you want to appear big and confident. Front facing you want to look hard and they will hold you for quite some time..practice holding your poses for @ least 60-90 seconds. The judges at all my past show held me for a long time, especially in pre-judging. Make sure your transitions from side to front facing and so on flows.

My first comp was a lil rusty, but by my last show I was 100x better. PRactice like crazy..smile the entire time...look @ the judges...work them. You gotta look confident and comfortable up there. keep your head and chin up, and while other girls are coming on stage and you are to the back practice changing up your positions of hands and so on. Practice walking in those lovely shoes too:)

Keep us posted these next 2 weeks...make your to do list and get ready to kick some MOFOn ass;)

Thank you so much for the advice, New@!! That is exactly what I needed. You wouldn't believe how we three girls who are competing have been going nuts trying to decide such a little thing (legs bent or legs straight). 60-90 seconds! We've been practicing holding for 15 MINUTES! No wonder I'm shaking by the end of my practice!

....and yes, I am getting much better with the shoes, thank goodness! ;)

Got my list, got my hair appt, nail appt, photoshoot appt, earrings, hair pretties... We all went down to our final fitting for posing suits together last Saturday (and wow, Jazz Skins did a great job with our suits!), put WAX in my calendar, so I won't forget, and tanning, tanning tanning!

I'm taking off work the last 2 days before the comp to run around and take care of all the finishing touches (plus I figure I wouldn't be able to concentrate at work anyway).

15 minutes is good...u need to practice at least 15-20 min every nite till competition day..GOODLUCK to ya! Just hold front facing etc for at least 60-90 seconds...do it like 4 or 5 times. Practice in front of a mirror so you get your hand positions down etc..and practice away from the mirror so you are used to not looking:)
