If your really going to carry it around all day. Go with a light piece but go to a gun store get a feel for the pistol in your hand, number of rounds in clip then caliber size. Some gun store have a range that let you test fire them. That is also a good idea. Don't get a big ass crazy pistol though as the weight is going to make them a pain in the ass. Also some don't holster well in certain locations. Try on some holsters with the pistol.
There bros on here really know there shit a lot more than I do. I was amazed at all the knowledge.

glock - simplicity and reliability, but doesn't have a safety so be fucking careful, don't worry about the caliber, 9mm, .40, and .45 are ample with good ammo

1911 - takes more practice to become proficient with, but is probably more accurate once you're good with it, heavier/harder to carry or conceal, tends to be more finicky if you go with a cheaper brand

desert eagle - useless other than for novelty's sake

pretty much basically yea

Right after getting my CHL I was all excited to get a hand cannon and carry it like a badass. But I found out real quick that comfort and concealability is more important than having a hand cannon. My compact G19 carries perfect

I did the same damn thing. Started out carrying a 4" 1911. I started leaving it in my truck cuz it was too heavy and uncomfortable. Tried the G23 and eventually settled on a little para pda 9mm. Its too damn hot in GA to conceal anything bigger.

I agree. My opinion, get a glock 30 slim, or look at a kahr .45. They're reliable, accurate out of the box and easy to conceal. Everything you need for cc

What about a 380 for CCW? Suggestions?

Kahr p380. Small and reliable. If you have big hands idk that you will like it much. Glock 25 is a .380 also, but same scenario. I think they make a mag extension for it though to compensate for the lack of grip.
