I know it sounds too good to be true, but spreading calories into 6 small meals a day is much better for fat loss and muscle retention than the time-honored 3 squares.
Think of the metabolism like a fire. To keep the fire burning, you need to add small portions of fuel throughout the day. Each meal should contain a balance of protein/carbs/healthy fats. This keeps blood sugar and energy levels steady, allowing metabolism to function at peak capacity, burning fat as fuel.
Going too long between meals (like more than 3 hrs - & if you feel strong hunger pangs, it's been too long) makes the fire burn out, slowing metabolism to a crawl. This tells the body to preserve fat and shed muscle, since muscle requires calories just to exist, whereas fat does not. Then, if you pile too much fuel on a cold fire, much gets wasted. In the case of the human body, it gets stored as fat, because a slower metabolism can't effectively process it.
Clen or T3 will make her lose weight, but she'll lose fat and muscle. Her metabolism will be even lower as a result of muscle loss. It'll make rebounding to higher body fat even easier than it is now. She's more than welcome to use them if she wants, we're just trying to save her some grief down the road.
