Finally.
Here is a recipe for a delicious beef stew dinner for the entire family.
Be warned, the kids will beg you to make this again. (at least mine did
)
Bear with me on this one. This is my first attempt at posting a recipe and all the Nutrients.
You may find me making small changes along the way.
You will need:
1 Pound lean hamburger*
1 can whole green beans (I prefer Del Monte)
1 can whole kernel corn (I prefer Del Monte)
1 can of sliced carrots (large can or 2 small)
2 cans whole white potatoes
1 package of beef stew mix (I prefer McCormicks)
1 can/jar good quality beef gravy (I prefer Heinz)
1-2 cups of water
None of these items I use use MSG!
None of these items I use have added salt. The cans of beans & corn will say "no salt added" You will see why in the nutrition facts below.
Start off by browning the hamburger in a large stew kettle or dutch oven.
Drain the fat off the hamburger.
Return the pan with the hamburger to the stove and add 1 can/cup of water
Open all the cans of food, cut the potatoes into quarter pieces.
Start adding all the veggies to the ground beef and water, stir over medium heat.
Add the gravy, then the stew mix.
Heat on medium for 2-4 hours until everything has heated and the sauce has thickened.
You may need to add more water to lighten the sauce if it becomes too thick.
Keep an eye on the food and stir every 10 minutes or so, so it doesn't burn.
Serve with french bread or crackers.
Makes enough food to feed a family of 4 w/ seconds.
*you can use any type of hamburger, just make sure to drain off all the grease.
