Changes in Gym Etiquette

I quit lifting for 10 years and started back last June. I've noticed some changes in behavior in the gym. First, when did it become "cool" to completely and intentionally drop your weights on the floor? I've seen this on deadlifts especially. Guys lift to the lockout and then just let go of the bar intentionally. In some cases ass holes try to "throw" the weight down extra hard. I don't expect people to lower it slowly to the point where there is no sound when it touches the ground, but stay with the bar and go down with it. Dropping the bar in a power lifting contest is grounds for red lights and a failed lift. Second change I've noticed is that men are wearing spandex that's sucked up where the sun doesn't shine. There's more but I'll save those for later. I haven't even started on this "cross fit" craze. :D

Honestly this would be a great place to drop videos, of idiots doing funny shit for us all to laugh at but site is incomparable...

Absolute worst is the skinny kid In the "stringer". I wear a gym stringer. It covers my nipples. These kids got some shit that looks like its made out of dental floss. Or the T-shirt that has the sides cut right off. If the opening goes to your hip, you doin it wrong bro. Nobody wants to see man nipples at the gym. Especially if you a skinnyfat hairy dude.

And making all those noises curling and comments about your biceps right in front of the new person that's not really comfortable yet, but is in there everyday trying to better themselves will 100% cause me to come work MY bis one inch from you and put you back in your place...Then help the newb with whatever superheavy, jerky, arm curl-extention thingy they're attempting on the leg machine. Hey, we all started somewhere haha

...OH and lemme catch you texting for 20 minutes on a busy friday in the only cable crossover they got... You better be texting the cops "HELP"

I saw 3 dudes at my gym all take their shirts off in the middle of the cable fly station and started posing in the mirror. These weren't IFBB pros or even competitive bodybuilders. They were just some lean athletic types standing their performing a pose down like they were on stage at the Mr. O. It was downright gay looking.

I've seen it. It forces me to join in and demonstrate how shred is supposed to look. The shirts go back in and the weights go up pretty quick after that. Of course, you can pose in the mirror... But so can i

It's being encouraged because of certain viewpoints arguing the necessity of the negative part of the rep. There are articles that promote dropping from the top, if allowed, to avoid the extra stress/strain of the negative portion. They say because deads are so demanding to eliminate as much of the cns stress as possible. If you google it, you'll see that this is actually a thing now.

My favourite is that guy in the jeans and wife beater with sweat stains all over it who trains arms everyday with outrageously over weighted uncontrolled reps drinking some unknown fluid out of a dirty old milk jug LOLOL 🙌🙌

Or the classic "I never re rack my weights" fuckers!! Or if they do the mix the 45's the 25's and the 10's all on the same rack seperated by eachother... I almost went full blown trensane at some guy doing this all over my gym the other day.. So aggravating!!

I hate the bastards that mix different weight denominations on the same arm of the weight stand, especially the bastards that put a 100 lb. plate on top of all of the 25 lb. plates. I'm getting old and removing the 100 lb. plates is starting to become work for me.
