CCW choices - need gun nutts' opinion.

Guys,

I'm in a toss up between 5 different handguns to carry. I'm only able to carry one of these, please do not suggest any other guns. Because of licensing issues only 9 rounds per gun are allowed to carry. These are the candidates, please help me make a choice:

Compact Jericho 9mm

Bernardelli 9mm

Fatih 765

Revolver 38 long round

Walter P22 ( 22L )

My main concerns are:

-Portability.
-Being able to use it at the range every weekend.
-Being able to stop an assailant quickly.

Thank You.

stick to either one of the 9mm. The Bernardelli is the better choice.

I have one of those walthers. It's a fun gun to dick around with, but a 22 is basically a target gun for shooting cans.

goin against the request and saying upgrade to a .40 mm...the ammo is the same price, comes in a sub compact...and will actually stop an assailant

theres a joke among military friends that your 9mm was only as good as how hard and far you could throw it
and my husband has a story about keeping rocks in his pocket in order to qualify with the 9mm...because it wouldnt actually knock the target over

don't waste your time with the revolver...because it is more reliable but its difficult to unload fast..which is your true main objective if you actually had to defend yourself with a gun

no idea why you would go with any of those guns for a CCW... those don't look compact to me, if you wanted a full size with 9 rounds you might as well get a larger caliber, or a more compact with 9 rds (small revolver, kel-tec..)

It's probably because NY has some of the strictest gun laws in the nation. These are probably the only guns BRR can have in NY.

fuck a kel-tec. I bought one when I turned 21 and it was a pos

heard that before but my experience with their sub-compact pistols has always been good and super easy to carry, can keep in your gym shorts and you can't even tell

I've got a Kel-tec .223 that folds up and fits in a backpack. It jammed up after every shot. I had to replace the entire bolt and pin with bushmaster or custom parts and a custom shell extractor that I bought off of ebay.

always wondered if that .223 was a POS.. you know if their folding 9mm that fits in a briefcase is any better?

I was originally gonna say the 38..but the average person can't fire a revolver quickly enough

the most reliable gun I ever owned was a cute little .22 S&W revolver that was just awesome for plinking

my favorite gun to shoot (but fuckin expensive) was a 308

sexiest woman alive right here.

with those progress pics please hold guns and wear a bikini, k thanks

These guns are for a choice of gun to carry when I'm in South America, visiting relatives as I do a couple months out of the year. As an American I can be a target for any number of things, so I'm stay strapped just in case. These are the only handguns the Gov will allow down there and only 9 rounds for the 9mm and 765, the 22L I'm allowed 10 rounds...

I like the P22 cause of the low recoil the follow up shots should be more accurate and I should be able to unload it quicker on multiple targets if need be, it is also the most portable out of all... The baby Jericho 9mm is a nice little gun (it is a baby Glock clone), but I don't know if its too little grip frame for a 9mm round kick and might come out of hand as I shoot multiple rounds, and the possibility of multiple targets a very real. I have no experience shooting any baby 9mm, only full size ones... Portability is priority #1 as I want to carry it 100% of the time, never leave it at home... A full size 9mm would look impressive, but means nothing cause I'm only allowed 9 round clips, so size becomes a none issue as rounds are limited by law...

Anybody shot a baby glock? is it that much harder to keep steady in the hand rapid firing, than a full size one?

Thank You all for the help.

jesus christ...

Im probably the only person in here whos actually shot a person...but yeah, that typo is bad

you shot someone? in the service or self defense here?

oak, I doubt the .38 has more stopping power with modern loads, especially custom loads. plus it only holds 5-6 rds depending on the model

depends on your hand size and wear size.. how much money you want to spend and caliber..

9mm.. taurus slim line is great and easy to conceal by far and the back strap can be smaller or larger

40cal a much better choice if self defense is the desire (i carry this one the most) .9" thick Walther pps

and the best advice for you is the holster... Smart carry...

remember you do not need quick access to the weapon, you want comfort, conceal ability, and access... I carry this one almost exclusively now.

Been carrying since i was 19... Nevada, Colorado, Cali, ND, Florida, Minnesota, Tx

yep, buddy has one in 45.. can't say about the smaller ones..
Follow up is easy enough with the 45..

but i've put thousands of rounds down range.. i carried a 357 cold python for 20+ yrs and could hit a 3" target at 100 yrds good times..

Not a fan of glocks.. too thick and i'm a bigger guy..

a glock has the advantage that the gun can be absolutely filthy and still fire...but I don't find them to be accurate

again...dont waste your time with a 22...
I remember a green emt tellin me about his first gun shot wound call...dude shot himself in the hand...the green emt was excited as hell

I said, what did the dudes hand look like? he said really swollen but no exit wound
I smiled and said...22 down the front of his pants
green emt says...how did you know??
me..because of the area that you got the call...all the punks keep em down the front of their pants..and because only a 22 wouldnt of turned the dudes hand into hamburger

it used to be most firearm deaths were from a .22...but thats point blank range to the head at the temple kind of thing

go to a gun shop that has a firing range and allows you try out different guns

theres one in Ct...Im sure theres one somewhere where youre at

Bernardelli 9mm hands down every time, baby jericho 9mm as a second choice...everything else is garbage.

I've got 2 glocks, and both of them kick the shell directly back into my face. Nothing like getting hot casing on the nose or ear when you are shooting.

Try looking at the Smithfield xD 9mm sub-compact. Unless the clips cannot even have more space than 9 rounds.. It holds 13+1 I think. Very smooth and very small. Then you'd have a nice one on the homeland too.. Though it's not a ccw the Smithfield xdm 40 is my fav.

Out of your 5 brr I'd go with the bernardelli 9

BRR, do you have an affinity for ghetto guns that sell for peanuts? This is a tool that is being used to potentially save your life and/or the lives of those around you, and you want to skimp and buy unreliable firearms?

Keep it simple. A Glock 19 is the way to go. 9mm, holds 15 rounds, tons of aftermarket accessories, easy to conceal, and a damn good price.

maybe u should read why he was looking into those specific guns you dumfuk fgt

You can buy magazines that make them legal for that state.

Never heard of a 9 round limit...and if that is the case, the Walther p22 is out of the question, because it holds 10 rounds.

Pokey, you know jack and shit about firearms.

fuck a kel-tec. I bought one when I turned 21 and it was a pos

I own a Kel-Tek Sub2000 9mm carbine and I love it! The relief is smaller than I like and it jams every now and then when shooting auto but other than that it's a good gun. (not my primary)

And anything to the torso....bounces around a lot because bullet doesn't have the weight to punch through bone to exit but has velocity. Internal bleeding is a biatch and usually can't find all the holes inside and you just bleed out and die. 22 makes a good CC cause you just need something to help you get away and live.

Out of the ones you posted I would get either the Jericho or Bernardelli(don't have many in the states, but got good reviews on the interweb) if you're going for stopping power....just use P+ defense ammo. Next I would go to the beretta 765 just because that company makes reliable firearms. I own a walther p22 and its very accurate and compact and makes a good concealed weapon if you're in a bind but doesn't have the stopping power.

Too bad you can't just get any pistol as long as its under 9 rounds because a compact 1911 45CAL. would be perfect. Stopping power and accurate.
