Just wondering whats the difference between CJJ and BJJ.. what do you guys think of CJJ and is it worthwhile? I'm thinking of starting CJJ as it is very close to home and affordable for the moment compared to BJJ.. I'm actually thinking of combining CJJ with aikido.. what do u guys think?

Thanks in advance :)

cjj with aikido is very good. bjj is more ground focus. If you want skip the bull just train in Daito ryu akijujitsu. it has it all.

Aikido takes a very long time to make useful
CJJ is tough to say w/out training at the school but if they have regular rolling it's probubly good

Thanks a lot for your helpful replies :) BOSSDAWG, if they had any Daito ryu akijujitsu dojos in my area (melbourne, Australia), i'd consider it.. but they don't which sucks.

Thanks again,
N.

Just had my first CJJ class. It was very good, we started off with some basic quick warmups and then he taught us how to fall and land. He then taught us some basic throws and trips and then some ground submissions and some grappling. I found it a lot more interesting than BJJ as it included 50% throws/trips and 50% ground work whereas when I did some BJJ it was 95% ground work. Moreover, I was also fascinated by the disciplinary and cultural/traditional aspects of it (eg. bowing to the sensei everytime he shows u something, meditating for a bit and not talking or laughing whilst training which was prevelant in BJJ). It was more of a martial art whereas BJJ seemed like more of a sport, which is awesome, but i'm just looking for something more traditional.

Hope Aikido goes just as well.

Cheers.

Sounds about right ninja - BJJ is more MMA oriented and works on the ground, classical JJ is more of an art with a rich history and traditions.

Good luck in your training.

i would of said that bjj has benn adapted to work in the ring its cjj with all the the moves tacken out that could seriously injure or kill some one. iwould forget the aikido and combine your cjj with boxing, or muay thai.
