Cant CKD or Keto, Alternative?

latinhire

New member
Ive read the CKD and Keto diet postings (Well written Mr. X) but unfortunately dont have the luxury of time to really sit down and figure out the foods, quantities and ratios necessary to make it work.

I absolutely loath fatty foods, (hate the feeling it leaves afterwards), but i need to shed these handles...

My Protein intake accounts for nearly 75-80% of my calories..is it possible that im burinig Protein instead of Fat?

Dice, thanks for the quick response...

Ive been doing just that....ive seen no results for the past 2 weeks...am i just being impatient? What constitutes a carb up on the weekends? How much? Why?

thanks oompha but im not on a keto diet...near it but not in Keto...just keeping the carbs down ( i eat TONS of vegetables )

I know fat should make up a larger protion of my diet, but..i cant sell myself in increasing my fatty foods intake, so im gonna just force down soem flax seed oil...

My main concern is if i am burning Protein instead of fat at this point...at which i am looking for a response regarding the perameters necessary in order to avoid. Ie, cardio rates, what certain foods can i eat to help avoid such a process and at which times....

Am i getting results?? Dropped 40lbs in 8 weeks and decreased my fat % by about 10 in 9.5 weeks.

Don't like fat :(

Wow, hehehe I almost don't want to stop doing the ckd diet. Its great, all week long I'm eating cheese, hamburger, and bacon (homer drool...) lots of bacon. Then on the weekends I wake up to ice cream, or doughnuts, and about the same all weekend long. After lunch on sunday with church people, go home shoot some slin, hit keto and back to bacon :)
And through it all I've got a lower bf % then I have EVER had, and am stronger to boot (thats an inventive part, nothing to do with keto)
But enough rambling, try getinng a good tasting protien shake, and mix in a tbsp or two of flax or udo's choice, lots of good fats, and doesn't taste like "fatty" food

The fat doesn't bother me what does is cutting my protein so drastically. I have always been use to a shit load of protein in my diets, and have always been told that builds muscle, so when i am eating only 15% of my cals in protein that worries me.

NO ! diamond why would he want to do that? Thatd be borderline ketosis and trust me youre going to feel like shit.

Go on a 40-30-30 diet, it work great and you have all the carbs you could want. PM me for more info if needed.

Blood are you anti keto?

Hey blood do you hate keto. I've seen lots of posts from you downing it. While it may not be your cup o tea its a very effective diet. Alotta people here are gonna listen to you just because you got mod by your name now, at least be open to effective diets.

From what I've seen, blood gives a balanced view of most diets--but there are a number of posters whose idea of great advice is is " Zero, 10 gram,s, 20 grams carbs" and that 's it! There's a lot more to keto dieting than just dropping your carbs--and it's not effective for everyone.

I can't believe the number of 1 line, meaningless posts on the CKD or keto dieting I've read--from people who have no real information.

There are a number of low-carb, Atkins, etc. forums on the net--if that's what you want and want advice about only that way of eating, I suggest you check those out.

It takes a while to work and you can cut the carb up to 1 day-take in high glycemic carbs first then low gi carbs-you can basically eat 70% of your total calories that day in the form of carbs

Elijah, you are right - Its not my cup of tea. But, you are wrong in saying that I look down upon it. For example, in this post, 30g of carbs is ridiculous on a diet. That would definetely make people suffer. I find CKD has a lot of unnecessary extra work involved (obsessing about labels, and especially obsessing about whats in foods at restaurants). But I do acknowledge it as being a very good and effective diet. I bash it sometimes when people are ckd advocates and seem to think nothing else works (diamond) because the idea that 0 carb is the only way to go has to go. Just as the low fat diet took a while to go away. My gramma and my mom still eek at fats - they grew up in a low fat diet -loving society. 0 carbs are all the rage, and while the work, it doesnt really deserve all the attention it gets. Plus, many people are not ready for getting constipated and they freak out and back out on the diet and give up altogether. If youre gonna go on ckd, you better research and know what you are doing, its harder, perhaps works better (less cardio needed) but the sides are rather unpleasant (low pumps in the gym, constipation, constant effort to read labels etc).

But be sure - I like both diets. Both work, and its just a matter of preference and patience.

Yep ckd can be a hassle for awhile. Now its kinda just habit, you learn what foods are good to go, and whats a no no. I like the fact at times its a force feeding issue. Ketones are good at keeping appetite down, there have been numerous times I've been like.... hmm I know I need more cals but I"m just not hungry.
Doing ckd now and having GREAT results. Its not the only way, but my favorite. Done the no/low fat (bleh bleh bleh bleh :)) And gonna try the isocaloric ones my research dnp comes in hehehe :)
I suggested the 30 carbs only because it most likely would not harm the ketosis state, especially if they are high gi carbs, and would help with muscle repair and not loosing muscle. Sorry for bashing you was mildly hypoglycemic at the moment hehehehe

Dear LatinHire,

Since, your protein intake is high already, than, I'd recommend you try a 50/30/20 (protein/carbs/fats)
(use EFA's as the fats)
Or to make it more simple:

Meal 1-3:
5oz. chicken breast (no skin)
1 medium yam/ or sweet potato
1 tbsp. flaxseed oil
Meal 4-5:
1 cup tuna
handfull of brown rice
1 tbsp. all natural peanut butter

Mr.X

Mr. X,

Thanks though all the advice ive recieved is good,( thanks Keiko for the refferals, it was informative and helpful) i find your alternative a bit more in line with my capabilities. I have already begun the EFA's (flax seed 2 tablespoons per day) and will just have to add in some brown rice and sweet potatoes into the diet to round it off...

Is there a specific time i should incorporate my EFA intake?
