Can caffeine "burn out" receptors like steroids?

I know that experts advise against using steroids for extended periods because they will "burn out" receptors and potentially cause permanent damage to them.

I was wondering if the same principle applies to caffeine and/or ritalin use. I've been using them on a daily basis now for about 3 years.

where did you get this info from? I just ran a search on yahoo for "caffeine and tolerance" and there are numerous sites and reports claiming you can build a caffeine tolerance.

I have been taking caffeine for years at 600 mg's per day and I can still feel the effects. Some people's receptors are more sensitive than others.

I've definitely built up a HUGE tolerance to caffeine & ritalin.

I was wondering if there is the potential for permanent damage to the receptors.

Caffine receptors cannot be burnt out. They are part of your nurvous system which recovers very quickly from outside stimulous.

The negative feedback loop will become stronger as there is more consumption and that is what gives your body the feeling of dependence. You depend on caffine to equalize your negative feedback loop.

ido the same with an eca stack and i still get the same feeling, after you have been taking it for awhile the headaches will get you more than anything.............

If I take lots of coffee I don't feel the caffeine effects anymore

I thought you have to stop drinking coffee for days to feel it again (though it is very personnal)
