can a person be killed from being shot in the arms/legs?

like in video games where u shoot a guy like 10x in the legs and he dies. can it happen for real? like bullet trauma or whatever? will it take like 50 million bullets?
and i dont mean bleeding to death slowly, more like instant fatality.

Absolutely. They may die quickly if any of the major arteries or veins are damaged. They might survive the initial injuries, but die from complications like infections or blood clots later.

wont do shit, i can squat 225 for reps.
if you get shot in the legs that bullet will just bounce right off. better work on the bench though.

well if you hit the main artery in the leg youll bleed out in like 8 secs lol

serious? that fast... ? thats like a shot to the noggin.

i wonder if having giant muscles can slow down bullets to reduce their power.

Technically you can die from a sprained ankle.

if you develop a blood clot and it travels to your heart or brain you're dead.

Yes, having giant muscles can help act as a protective shield, especially if you're hit with a small caliber bullet. The bullet loses energy as it passes through a solid material. I'm not saying that pro bodybuilders are bullet proof, but depending on the shot, it could save their life in such a situation.

I've seen it happen numerous times in our busy trauma center. The average blood volume of an adult human is just over 5-6 liters. The heart pumps about 70 times per minute with about 70 mL of blood with each squeeze (assuming a 65% ejection fraction). This is just under 5 liters/minute of blood volume that the heart pumps in one minute.

Hit the femoral artery, and you could easily bleed out in about two to three minutes (given that not all the blood is directed to the femoral artery that is injured). After you lose about half your blood volume, you will become unconscious. Pretty soon you won't have enough blood to perfuse your brain and other vital organs, and that's when you go into cardiac arrest and die.

As I've said before, I've seen plenty of young people brought into our trauma bays who have died from .22 caliber wounds to the femoral or brachial arteries.

It is also totally possible to be hit in the arm from a small caliber round, and when that round hits bone, or cartiledge, it can travel through the body striking vital organs and killing you rather quick.

Years ago I saw a special about a bodybuilder who got shot somewhere in the chest region and I remember the doctor saying that all the muscle slowed the bullet down and possibly saved his life.

apart from all the bleeding issues, yeah, you can trip off a bunch of cardiac stuff (arrhythmias etc) and kill someone like that

unlikely maybe, but possible

no if you know what your doing, you can do it with one bullet to the leg, although you need to make sure they are no where near a phone or a hospital :)

I remember that, they showed his car and the windshield was riddled with bullet holes.

I think it was the combination of small caliber bullets passing through the windshield 1st, them him though. The dude did have a thick ass chest.
