calorie redcution...cutting

Does anyone know how many calories to take off per week for cutting to retain LBM. I am on ckd now at 4800 calories.

Not knowing your weight, I'll assume 4800 cal is at least w/in your BMR range. If not, your caloric intake should be
weight x 12 (BMR) and you car work around the BMR w/ weight x 11 at the lowest. Feel free to PM me w/ questions.

I am 6 foot 190. I have been using this diet for a bulk with some sucess. I put on around 1 1/2 to 2 pounds a week. It is hard for me to deal with any fat gain since 3 years ago I weighed 290 pounds so I thought I would cut until my fat levels are as low as I can get them and then reintroduce carbs slowly and live "normal" again. What would happen if I just went right to about 3000 calories a day? I also read that doing too much cardio on ckd can strip away lmb. I was thinking about 2-3 sessions a week.

You can gradually drop to 3000 then 2700 then 2500, don't do it all at one time, take it week by week. If you jump right into ketosis from where you are, you'll fell awful.

Too much cardio on any diet can strip away muscle mass, but while in ketosis - fat can be used for energy, so it's a little less of a worry. I suggest you follow the manual cardio routine (Mr.X's CKD manual)

I dont understand how you can bulk on a CKD. Isnt it almost impossible to gain muscle without the presence of insulin.

How much protein were you taking in?

I've seen many ppl bulking using CKD; in fact, when used in a 3/1 ration (ketosis/carb up day), the CKD can be very good at allowing for muscle gains. I've seen people taking in a large amount of calories on a CKD and gain muscle mass - probably attricuted to high amounts of protein.

I was taking in around 340-390 protein. I was gaining about 1-2 pounds per week but caonstanly 2 after I reached 4500 calories and cut all cardio. I figure the 15 pounds gained was about 60% muscle. Most of it seems to be in my legs. My jeans fit me like hip huggers now. Can Mr. X explain why on a diet like this you get most of your gains in your legs, mostly the quad and ham, although my calves got ripped also. I think that it had to do with overtraining in the upper body. On a diet like this I think you can do less work for the upper body to get gains.

Every person has different genetics, there is no way I could explain the genome in a post (not to say that I know enough about DNA/RNA). But, overall, the diet has nothing to do w/ your particular quad/leg gains, for your genetics are the key - the diet is the door.
