Broncos General Manager Ted Sundquist told KCNC-TV in Denver that Carswell, 33, tore his diaphragm and had internal bleeding in his chest.

I gather his and two other cars traveling southbound were hit by two cars from the northbound lanes that previously collided. His career is probably over, they moved him from tight end to lineman this year. Denver already has offensive line problems.
