okay ladies! My fiance lives in PA, where as to, right now I live in Houston, Tx. We've been long distance for over a year now. Who said long-distance couldnt work?? I am moving up there in Dec... anyways.... we only get to see eachother once a month/month & a half.... when we are together, we eat BAD! Its like we are prefect on our diets while we are apart, but when we are together, we are always going out and eatting things we shouldnt. out of 3-5 days we are together, half the time I eat great, but then I give in the last few days! I know once we're married it will be different but its so hard once he leaves, b/c im so sad for a few days - its hard to snap out of the bad food binge. Anyone have or had a long distance relationship? Anyone ever have this problem?

LMAO - my now-husband and I were cross country for about 6 months. I was in MD he was in NV. We saw each other 3 times in 6-7 months. I moved to Vegas, we moved right in together. We got married after living together for 3 years and are happy as clams.

BUT, being in a relationship and dealing with food is tough. We find that either we both eat good or we both eat crap. When one of us gets fat, so does the other one. lol We tend to either have a good influence on each other or a really shitty one.

That said, a couple days of eating poorly every now and then won't do long term harm. It is when you do is ALL THE TIME - when there are more "bad food" days than "good food" days - that is the problem.

Don't assume marriage will solve the issue. It could make it worse.

It is up to you to take the "high road". If you really don't want to eat poorly, don't do it. Put your foot down. Let him eat poorly while you eat well.

I'm really glad to know your story! Its so comforting to know that I'm not the only one! Plus, you are absolutely beautiful so there is hope to remain atleast semi-decent! haha ;) I've actually been decently good at putting my foot down, but damn it! Sometimes when hes eatting a big fat cheeseburger and i'm over there w/ my salad or ckn and plain baked potato...after a couple days of that... i give in! :verygood: Anyways... again, thanks for helping me regain strength! I wish you and your husband the best! You two deserve the best - you obviously are meant to be! I think any 2 people who can make a long distance relationship work have a strong relationship!

My boyfriend and I have been together for almost 3 yrs, and we were long distance for the first 6 months we were together (8 hr drive, we saw each other 1-2 weekends a month, sometimes more since home for both of us was halfway between where we lived), "sort of" for the following two years (we were 80 mi apart, but both in graduate school so only saw each other on weekends), and now have been living together since July. The first 6 months were definately bad in terms of eating out whenever we were together (we were both in college and didn't really cook, either). He had terrible eating habits, and I think my biggest accomplishment was getting him to switch from regular to diet Coke! The second two years we were better--if we were going out to eat and I wanted to be healthy, we'd at least go somewhere that I could find something. We did cook a lot (grilled chicken, low fat stir-fry, etc), and he was respectful of my diet.

Now that we live together, we're BOTH developing better eating habits, but you're right--it's so hard to eat bland chicken for the third time that day when he's sitting there with a nice, juicy cheeseburger!! We eat "right" most of the time, although when we go out of town we like to eat whatever we want (which is basically a cheat day because after one huge, unhealthy meal we're ready to go back to good foods again)!
