boxes for box squats: size?

im seeing anywhere from 8 inches to 18 inches, avg being 12 inches height.

where does one find said boxes? build one? or crates or is it just a matter of finding one. would a home improvement store have boxes like this? or it could be a matter of slapping some boards together with some nails huh?

guess im just asking...where did you get your box and what height do you prefer?

"The top of the box should be 24x24. This will allow for one to sit way back without falling off the box.

"The best way to build the box is to actually build a series of boxes. The box can be made out of 2x4s set to equate the dimensions above. Set the 2x4s so they form a box. Use 3/4 inches plywood for the top. This will make a 4 inch box. Then all you have to do is duplicate the box 2 more times.

"You'll place one box down then put a rubber mat on top of it followed by the next box, then another mat. If you build the boxes this way and also have a 1 inch and 2 inch board, you'll be able to size any lifter.

"It's important to use the rubber mat to keep the boxes from sliding. This is how I'd recommend building the boxes. If you built just one box at 12 or 14 inches then you wouldn't be able to do any low box work. There are some movements we perform on a 6 to 8 inch box."

you dont know how many times i just read this....to understand.

from my understanding....

2x4's....make a square, slap on some 3/4 in plywood on top. BAM- 4 inch box. dimensions on top 24x24 square.

repeat 2 more times and you have 4- 4inch boxes that you stack on top of each other with a rubber mat in between each.

seems simple enough. after reading it 80x. :bawling: :D

gracias.

is the 3/4 in plywood strong enough....so that you dont fall through in the center?

Run a cross piece through the middle of the square. So you will need (2) 24" pieces...and (3) 21" pieces.

The best place to get the mats is at a Horse Supply store. They sell Stall Mats that are 4'X6' for about $40. You can cut them into 2'X2'squares and have 6 mats.

I think the height of the box depends on your physical build.

I typically use a 16 inch setting. This gets me to parallel position.
