Bowflex or no Bowflex

Just wondering if they are worth the money. I know it is better to use free weights but does Bowflex's work. If so which is the better one to get THANKS

My buddies dad has one and it is a pretty good piece of machinery, but is a little jerky on some of the movements in that arms are independant of each other and the tension bars are a little awkward at first. His problem was that he wasn't motivated to use it in his home as much as goto the gym, hence he rarely uses it anymore

You need to get a Tony Little Gazelle before you even think of moving up to a Bowflex! That is too hard core!

LMFAO:bawling:

I'm not sure about the Bowflex but I was at a sporting goods store yesterday and saw a Crossbow. I jumped on it and tried to do a chest press and it didn't feel right. Then I tried to curl it and that felt retarded too. You're better off sticking to free weights.

correct me if i'm wrong but isnt a bowflex around 1500 dollars?

thats like the cost of a gym membership for about 3-4 yrs.

and no way the boflex is going to be better then even a shitty gym.

Instructions to be like Bill Romanowski:

Wake up 5 am.

5:30 am eat breakfast, low fat, low carb, high protein meal such as raw eggs or breakfast bar.

6 am Stretch and take short Jog to get blood pumping, less than two miles.

6:45 am Go to bathroom, remove all bodilly waste and take syringe from medicine cabinet,
sliding needle into vial extract 5 cc's of (insert steroid compound of choice here) and draw into syringe.

7 am Inserting syringe into buttocks inject said (insert steroid solution here again)

7:10 am wait 10 minutes for soultion to begin through blood vessels and go to weight room

7:15am to 12pm Slam ungoddly amount of weight until "roid rage" has ended

12 pm to 1pm cool down in sauna then jacuzzi so you can walk tommorow

1:15pm to 1:30pm Punch fellow team member in face crushing eye socket

1:30pm to 2pm eat recovery meal High non-saturated fat and carbohydrates

Good god, bro. That's an entire home gym!! Like Mike said, you don't need anything THAT elaborate.

Here, this is all you need to get started with a home gym, at a third of the price:

I don't know that the "Bow FLex is all that bad. I do know the ad hype and promises they make on them are a joke.

get chuck noris's "TOTAL GYM", its the shit.

yeah right, anyways, dont waste your money, join a gym

Thats got to be the biggest bullsh** piece of equipment ever offered. I've sat and watched the info-mercial and laugh at how much fun their having and how great of a workout they all pretend to be getting. How can you get a full body workout from a rowing maching?

i worked at a sporting goods store once, and they had total gyms
i tried it out and it sucked ass, it was even worse than the bowflex
the total gym had like no resitance at any of the levels

get a basic rack and an adjustible bench
when its time to move up, get dumbells

IMHO

We often take the time durring our daily workout to comment on one individual or anothers need for a bowflex. In our mind the bowflex is what those people who do not want to make gains should use. It isn't going to help you get in shape or develope strength but it does make a huge dent in your pocket book and looks neat in the corner.

NO BOWFLEX!!! Unless of course you really don't want to grow/change.

i dont think the bowflex is that bad if your just trying to stay in shape.

if i was going to spend 1500 dollars, you can bet your sweet bippy i would by a powerrack, adjustable bench and freeweights.

bowflex, and total gym are not bad peices of equipment at all. and you will get good results off them following a good diet program.

just do 1 thing............. never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever follow the routine they give you.

30 minutes a day, 3 times a week will get you squat.

if your just dying to get a bowflex, go ahead, thats your decision, but come here and ask for a program, or look at the training methods stick at the top and follow something like a 5x5 program, and you will see results.

but again, imho, get a powerack like joker posted.
