Bow Flex

Guess I'm unique here but I recently bought a Bowflex and I'm pretty happy with it. My situation is limited space which it is great for.

I've worked with free weights and weight machines a well. It is different but I don't really have a problem wtih that. The idea is to build muscle and so far it seems to work well for that.

My only problem wtih it so far is the crunch excercises, in that they require your arms invovlement to hold the resistance you are crunching with. I tried with the waist strap around my shoulders but that is a problem and there doesn't seem to be an attachment for this as they have for some other excercises.

Most seem to feel it is too expensive but you want an excercise machine with the "Flexibility" of excercises you get with teh ability to move from one excercise to anoter and change resistance quickly, I don't think you can do much better. I did research before ordering it using Consumer reports and it ranked top in it's class. They also mentioned it is pricey but also commented it's hard to do better with that little space. Regarding price also you can get a used one and save some money. I bought mine on ebay. I've seen some say they sold theirs for a fraction of what they bought it for and they must not have used ebay because I've seen many sell for pretty close to what you would buy new from Bowflex. Many are willing to pay it because they can get it MUCH faster that way, rather than waiting the crazy 6 weeks from Bowflex.

The convenience of having it right in my home to use regularly when I want can't be beat.

I was originally looking here to see if I could find some tips for improving the abs exercises, but it appeasrs that is unlikely since most don't seem to like the machine let alone ahv any user tips for improving the exercises.

its for

6'1" 172# male models that bench 200lbs. LOL

Sounds good on TV, but if you see no real iron heads are using it that should answer any questions.

They are good for about six weeks then your muscles get used to the motions and you have no way to "shock" them. I know people who have gained a ton on one, but then they peak and can't change it up.

I use it often still free weights are better but its excellent in going thru the motions if you have an injury.RADAR

It's a good home system if you need to workout and can't make it to the gym. Theproblem I had with it was range of motion. At 6' 7" I have a very long range of motion on all exercises but as far as home systems go it's pretty good, especialy if you ave limited space. I have mine for sale do if you are interested send me an email and we'll talk.

I love mine, but then again, i'm by no means a body builder at all. I agree, stick with a gym if you are going all out hardcore.

blech

a friend of mine has one and i think its a piece of cow dung.

i used it and the motions are akward, clipping the weights takes too long, and i couldnt keep my arms from wobbling around.

waste of money

heres my $.10 my $.02 is free

It sucks. The weight doesn't go up high enough at all and the way the movements are are somewhat awkward.

Ditto. It's a piece of shit. But better than nothing. If you use it regularly you might get as big as that little guy in the infomercial.
