Bought a new surround sound system

My wife went and spent a bunch of dough on Negro Friday. Alas, Im picky when it comes to purchasing clothes so I didnt find anything worth wearing.

Therefore, I decided to buy a new surround sound system. Fookers.

Onkyo TX-SR805 receiver.

2 Polk Audio Monitor 70 floorstanding speakers.

Polk Audio Monitor Series CS2 Center Channel Speaker

Also got Band of Brothers on Blu Ray to test this shit out.

Awesome choice on the receiver.

Newegg had a really good price on that particular one I believe - I think Fry's electronics also had a special on it.
 
Im looking to purchase one in the near future as well... how much did you spend on the whole package? and how would you rate it??

Via the magic of Amazon.com, the whole thing was less than $1,000 including shipping. I don't have a sub yet but this should do well enough for the size of my living room.

wow way more than i want to spend... Im waiting so i can get whole package deal, i have 42 inch hi def LCD now but first i want to upgrade that to 50, and put the 42 in bedroom and the small bedroom tv in my bathroom, than i will invest on a surround sound system... cant wait
 
I got a 52" 1080p sony back in March so this has been a long time coming for me.

Btw, Band of Brothers > Rambo.

u gotsa have a sub, bro...you'd be amazed how much it helps to round out the overall sound quality....a sub takes the pressure off the woofers to produce muddy bass notes they really aren't optimally designed to do. :artist:

I bought a 40 inch 1080p LCD on Blaq Friday. It cost less than your surround sound system lol. I had to upgrade from the 1989 27" JVC that was starting to go. A good surround sound system is next on my list. something under $500 though. I be poor and shit.
 
It's a sad world where people won't spend as much for a whole sound system as they do just for the TV.

Also, it's not "surround sound" if you don't have any rear speakers.

I got rears already nugga. Gonna use my bookshelf speakers.

And big TV = more expensive then adequate sound.

My post was aimed more a Untz-Untz-Untz boy though, who said you spent way more than he was planning.

I'm poor and I buy things with cash. I wish I had more cash to invest in a bad ass system, but I don't. Anything beats the non existent unit I have now lol.

Ah...my bad.

I think my TV is considered above average...or it was back in March.

Lossless sound via Blu Ray = a mid range 7.1 system will do.

At least for me.
 
little cube speakers with a 10" woofer are just fine!

Actually, fuck that. I'm gonna build my own speakers still.
