Waddaya think?

Which processor did you get? Some of that stuff seems redundant in that list. All in all though that's a pretty normal price for a decent laptop. It should serve you well as long as you don't plan on doing much gaming/high end graphic work.

You know that's weird, I never noticed that centrino line in there. I verified on the pone w/ the indian name "Eric" around 5:00.

I would assume it is the Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T7700 (2.4GHz/800MHzFSB, 4M L2 Cache) because that is what I ordered.

I bought this machine because I do play games......like CS, TF, etc.

The machine I'm using now is a 2 gig 512 RAM ancient desktop which I paid over 2 grand for in 2002. I figured it was time for an upgrade.

But now that you mention that I will make sure I didn't some Centrino bullshit when I paid for something else....

Apparently you got so excited coming up with that zinger above that you rushed it a bit. Luckily for you there is a edit option.

Good with that rebate, i'm not a fan of Dell. You should have gotten the Lenovo X61 IMO.

Dual core is better then Centrino, it's faster and uses less power. Good chip... Scatch my X61 post, is not a gaming machine.

Yeah a new laptop would be better than a 6 yr old pc for gaming. You bought the laptop more for convenience though, correct? A laptop for a main gaming machine limits your options to customize for future upgrades.

Yep, you got it. I was customizing a quad core desktop for $300 less but I travel once a month or so to visit family and friends, and it would be damn nice to have a decent laptop to bring with me.

I stay in hotels a lot and always miss having a machine that can take advantage of the free wireless....

I got a reconditioned IBM Thinkpad T42, 15" screen, Centrino 1.7G, 40G HDD, XP Pro, $525 from the IBM Pre-Owned Outlet.

My bad a typo. Sorry if i affened you puddlemonkey. :p

it's okay.

but personally i like Toshiba. Mine is kicking ass. It even has Vista, and is stable as can be. I'm even running Adobe Production Premium on it.

r

Mine will have Vista as well, I'm a bit nervous about that - I think with two 2.4 gig processors and 3 gig DDR2 RAM I should be straight....

That's a good price for that but doesn't even compare to what I just purchased.....

Yeah it's dated, but it does what I need.

And I'm getting over six hours use on each battery charge.

*orgasm*

Just got this thing today.

I'm currently installing about 8 games at the same time to test this bitch out!

Awesome build/ship time, I got it 10 days before it was supposed to ship.....
