musclemom to answer your question i am an aviation electrician. i deal with all things autopilot , navigation , all the guages and indicators , AC&DC power generation and distribution , aircraft lighting , propellor synch , all electrical components , all aircraft wiring. so pretty much whenever there is a descrepancy , whether it is to my shop or not i have to be ready to go work on it or to prove to the other fuckers why its their gripe.

But the big thing TAKE CARE OF YOUR FEET!!! GOOD FOOT POWDER!!! CHANGE YOUR SOCKS EVERY CHANCE YOU GET!!! Use antiperspirant on your feet after showering ... I'm serious. Get some Gold Bond body powder and use THAT everywhere else.

My son has had fungus EVERYWHERE Friggin' military and fungus

Shower shoes? In eight years of service I never had a problem with athlete's foot.

I have a long background in the service, and have known a lot of guys in the service, in addition to having had a bit of a stint myself ages ago, I told him before he went to basic:

1. Do not fall in love son, you're too young anyway (he was only 18, he went right out of high school).

2. DO NOT, AT ALL, CONSIDER MARRIAGE! IF YOU THINK YOU WANT TO CONSIDER MARRIAGE, REMEMBER THAT THE DIVORCE RATE IS OVER 90%.

yea , he is an airframer though, in the navy they deal with all metal issues , hydraulics , tire and wheel , brakes , paint , windscreens, and interior panels.

i'm not sure about the navy's basic training, so i can't help you much there.

all i can say is WASH YOUR HANDS EVERY CHANCE YOU GET

you will be surrounded by dirty, nasty, sick people who will cough, sneeze, and spit all over everything.

basic is a pain in the ass as it is, but having to do everything sick is even worse.

lol washing your hands isn't going to keep you clean - it's freaking basic training! Expect to get dirty filthy nasty - and enjoy it!
