I didn't like the second part. You were in a dangerous position when you failed at the second attempt. Be very careful! Be sure to get a spotter when you attempt maximum weights. Get some of your buddies to train with you. If you don't have access to a spotter, be sure to set the pins at the level where the bar nearly touches your boards or sternal area.
Believe me, you don't want to fail with 250lbs resting on your chest.
