Blood in syringe

I just took my shot. I aspirated and drew 2 large bubbles. I injected and noticed towards the end that there was a minute amount of blood present inside the chamber. Is that a bad sign, does it mean I injected inside a vein?

It should not matter that much, it has happend to me, I may have gone through a vein. If you Aspirate and keep the needle steady while injecting you should not have any problems. If you injected in to a vein you would know it Good Luck Bro!

Also - when aspirating - you are just suposed to do it until you notice it withdrawing fluid - but making sure it is not blood - right?

If you pull in air, shouldn't you start over? I know air bubbles is a big no-no with vein injections - is it that big a deal with intramuscular?

my last 4 injections, everytime i aspirate i draw in atleast 2 air bubbles when im inside,then i inject. and no problems yet.

You just have to pull back on the plunger a little bit to see a bubble (or blood). Think about the volume of the needle only. There is not much volume in a 22 or 23g x 1 1/2" pin. No need to try and extricate a muscle group - it's counterproductive.

They are not really air bubbles! Do you think that you can pull air out of your muscles? LOL. The bubbles a there because you have created a vaccum, when drawing the plunger back. If the bubbles are still there when you let go of the plunger then air has leaked in around the stopper. For IM injections bubbles usually pose no problems. BigJ

This is accurate - air is from vacume overcoming the seal.

However, I know a lot of people that you could probably get some air out of...

Anyways, so what happens if you do draw in blood? Just move the needle one way or the other and try again - and then inject the vile with some blood in it into the muscle?

New stuff for me - just started my first cycle recently... I have taken my first shot - pulled on the stopper a bit and didn't notice anything - just making sure I got my shit right from her on out...

Yes, you are right. You would have known it if you injected in a vein.... it sucks!

Usually,if I get a blood flashback,i usually just push the needle a little deeper,check again,and inject.Having a couple of little bubbles in the syringe is a good thing.It means you wont have any drug left in the dead space of the needle...the air will push it all in....important if you are injecting something in small quantities(like insulin).The problem with injecting into the vein is some of the intramuscular compositions were just not meant to go intravenously...especially the oil based preps.They can create an embolism which goes straight to the lung,causing all kinds of problems(asked Milos sarcev what happened when he mainlined synthol last year<accidentally>)

Seeing air bubbles is a good sign. I always get air bubbles when I aspirate and I go a head and shoot them back where they came from. You may have gone through a vein and that is what may have caused the small amount of blood.
