Big Framed Members

Cardinal Slin

New member
I am 6 foot + and currently weighing in around 260lbs.

Although I have built a solid back, wide shoulders and am quite lean now at around 13% my chest is still not filled out and my arms dont look big at all unless I am flexing them or have my elbow at a 90 degree angle.

It sometimes gets quite frustrating that I am busting my balls off in the gym and am gaining weight quite nicely but still it is not very apparent in terms of filling out my muscles.

To all you big framed members, do you train differently when on cycle or is there anything different you do to help fill your frame out?

I know I have added photos but please don't place this on the photo forum - it never gets viewed and my post is trying to get insight from big framed peeps when on cycle.

I'm quite :(

dude it takes a long time to fill out your arms if you are tall and not a genetic freak, I'm 6 3 and my arms are 19 1/2 " cold now and I gotta say when they are down by my side they look very weak...very frustrating. Im in the Omega project,He has helped a great deal with this.My arms were 18 3/4 a month ago. and just cus Im not satisfied with their size doent mean they are not big.
I saw my sister for the first time in like 2 1/2 months this week and she said I looked like a cartoon.. just goes to show what others see isnt exactly what you see in the mirror....Talk to Omega :) he can put you on the road to fix ANYTHING :chomp:

This is the exact problem I have :(

I am almost in identical situation than you. If I was 6 foot nothing more, I would look huge, unfortunately I am taller and it's so annoying :worried:

Not only good job omega but good job bentoverrow. Afterall he is the one who killed himself in the gym to get those results.

I can relate!

Dude, I am pretty wide up top - my back and traps are spread out toward my delts so it makes my chest and arms look smaller.

The only solution - get a bigger chest. While the shape and cut of your chest is genetic, you can get a SICK routine from OMEGA that will fill it out. Honestly since I've worked with him my chest has been filling out nicely.

You're going to have to work chest twice per week. Strict focus and slow, concentrated movement. Forget flat bench and leave the ego at the door - you're going to start with lighter weight...just talk to him.

Luckily my arms have been growing - I honestly think it's because I've been bashing the shit out of my legs. Besides that I work bis and tris together - 8-12 rep range with the following routine:

Standing hammer curls, V-bar cable pushdowns, reverse grip pushdowns (using straight bar palms facing up to hit inside tricep head), then seated incline hammer curls, reverse grip cable curls (palms facing down), preachers, overhead dumbbell press, close grip bench, body drag curls, then finally dips

This is the thing, back in the day I would always go for 160kg benches with no form. Now i'd rather stick to the 60-100kg range and go with perfect form, no messing, no ancillary muscles etc.

I will always go for form over weight. I used to lift heavy but I came to realise my best workouts came from lower weight but stricter form.

I guess I'll speak with Omega and see what we can do.

How much do the consultations cost?

Thanks

Omega is awesome.

I find it is always a good idea to hire a trainer/coach if you take your training seriously.

A coach will give you a routine and exercises that you may not have thought of or not wanted to do.

It offers other perspectives on training and helps you to break through plateaus.

I feel your pain! I am 6'1 at 235lbs My arms are 18". I have a wide frame (shoulders) so I get a nice v shape easily. I am working on the chest now to fill it out a bit but am happy with my progress.

The money you would spend on crappy supplements for three months would yield FAR greater results if invested in "O"s program and you will have the tools to grow for the rest of your lifting days...btw the growth Ive gotten has been OFF cycle, I can just imagine what I would get if I started his program ON. :)

im a 6'er also and I have the most discontent with my arms. they way I see it, id have to have 20" arms to realy look good. damn!

i feel ya!!! i'm 6'4 and wide as a door frame. i'm a classic ectomorph and putting
on mass has been a real labor.

i've been working with omega for several months now and i can tell you that he
will design a program for you that'll give you the results you want. since working
with omega, i've exceeded my wildest expectations. he has a genius for
*reading* body types and assisting folks to bust through plateaus. you could
get 2 years worth of results in 3 or 4 months if you follow his instructions to
the letter.

Am glad I am not the only one out there!

I stopped growing and stabled out around 140lbs ages back. I am currently around 260lbs (13%) and looking to get to 280lbs/ The problem is even at 260 and with 18.5 arms, I look small :(

I dont think even getting to 280 is going to change that too much.

Oh well, I am not giving up!

lol what? 140 lbs at your same height as now? thats insane man

make sure you're reaching hypertrophy with ur training. also do priority training for chest and make sure you're getting enough rest between chest sessions.

No, I'm not tall(not incredibly short either) but I have learned that if I work the body part that is lacking twice a week I see improvements.

I have almost completely stopped working arms because they have become too big for the equality that I want. But I have been working legs twice a week for about 6 months now and they are almost equal to my upper body now, and I am very happy about that.

You tall guys have it rough, no doubt about it. But in the end, you look better if you can gain the size to do so.

+1
I've lost weight and gained size and strength. My cadrio endurance and speed are both up ( I did a sport specific, not bodybuilding only). Hes a very intelligent bro. You (cardnal insulin) and him would probably have some complex convos since you both are really educated in these subjects. I've learned a lot from him and hes not pushy or anything, he worked with me and some complications I had. A real good bro.

Oh, I'm also 6'3" with a 6'6" or 6'7" wingspan. But I have slightly wide shoulders and a really small waist. My arms won't look big without getting over 20. And thats a LONG way to go.

ive got a big frame. Ive only been lifting for one year. Not to brag but I made a shit load of progress in a years time. I see bros that been lifting for years and im bigger than a lot of them.

everyone makes great gains their first year of lifting, talk to me when you want your arms to go from 17 1/2 cold to 19 1/2 THAT takes skill and effort,
talk to me when you get your legs to go from 27" to 31" 10" above your Knee THAT takes skill and effort, talk to me when you get your lat spead to go from 47" to 55" THAT takes skill ....especially for those ectos out there.

Never posted before but this thread hits home. I'm 6' 4" 230 ~11% bf.

I've made a ton of progress this past cycle (test/tren/mast) by only doing compound movements and not working arms directly.

Back day is deadlifts, wide grip pullups, narrow grip pullups, barbell rows, rack pulls

Chest day is heavily weighted dips, incline db presses, flat bench, and back to non-weighted dips to failure

Leg day is squats, stiff leg deads, leg presses, good mornings

Shoulder day is seated barbell military, seated db military, barbell hang clean and press

No curls, no rope pulldowns, etc. I save all energy to pour into the compound movements. All heavy, high intensity. 4 days on 3 days off (lots of rest).

This is just what's worked for me recently. I'm going to continue on this path at least until the results start to level out.

Good luck.

I have a simillar problem but it's not because of height. I used to be really fat so I my bone structure grew to accomodate that size that I carried for so many years. Fast forward to today after having lost 45 lbs and gained 25 lbs of muscle I have a large back (56 inches) with big shoulders and big legs (33" thighs) and even though my arms are 19.5 inches cold, with those other messurements and at 5' 9.5" my arms looks small. Pisses me off to no end so what I have been doing lately is workout bi's on back day and tri's on chest day along with a dedicated day to arms at the end of the week. I've been doing that for two weeks and it seems to at the very least be making my arms more cut. My bf is at 18% and I weigh 280 lbs. My starting weight was 322 lbs at 35% bf.

Most of my experience comes from being BIG period. Not really big boned, :)

But I do want to tell you that the way OMEGA has trained me in phase one only brought great changes to my physique. I'm recouperating from a surgery right now but am really ready to resume the workouts he custom made for me that brought me so far.

The trainers in my gym have no idea what I am doing but just walk up to me and tell me to keep doing whatever I'm doing. I wanna keep doing this for LIFE!

I've never really done a link up to my photo thread but will to illustrate a point. Ignore flabby tummy but please notice the other changes he helped me with:

Yeah, I've always been the poster boy for "big boys", ever since I was a kid. Even at my largest I never looked as much as I actually weighed though(thankfully). I've been training on and off for the past 5 years but started concentrating on this game at the begining of the year. There's nothing quite like getting into your 30's and realizing that your not the young buck you once where. I actually have my younger brother to thank for that haha. Add into the mix that a couple of pro cats started working out at the same time i was working out at in the gym and bam, recipe for success. I am not shy when it comes to asking questions and I just bugged them until they had to answer my questions in order to shut me up haha, kidding. Seriously though, luckily for me they were willing to answer my questions and help me out with my diet and "other" questions.

Get ready for the pain haha. Good luck with that man and I bet you are going to have a blast. One of the guys I work out with is one of Milos' guys. He has a ton of info and infinite amounts of workout routines so he keeps me on my toes. The only thing that kills me about the Milos stuff is that it's all fricken super sets of up to 5 different exercises/10 reps per set. Talk about conditioning. I remember when I first started working out with these guys the leg days were always the worst. Fricken killed me every time for days at a time. I don't miss those days at all hahaha.

lol, bro 19 1/2 is fucking huge. If you think you look weak with almost 20" arms you have perception issues. mine are 17" and most people tell me arms are looking pretty good, and I'm 6'2".

most of us have perception issues, my self perception is way off.. A large shirt fits me like a baby doll, but my buddy is loose in a medium and I feel small next to him. I'm starting to come to terms with this.. pictures, and more pictures, and more pictures..weird how I can see it when I look at images.

This is so true! I think i'm small, and people are always telling me i'm huge, but I just don't see it. I just see, underdeveloped chest, not a perfect biceps peak, smallish calves (can't train right now, resprained my ankle :(). But to everyone else in the world, they see buff and thats it.

If we didint have perception issues no one would change much at all.
Im not satisfied with "ahh, thats good enough"...just not wired that way.

6ft 3 260+ I think it's the bf% that does it for me. Smaller guys with lower bf look bigger. bigger guys look even bigger!

BF is your friend.

im 6, 4 245 with 18 in arms. they seem small to me. i used to be 160lbs. when i look in the mirror i see the same skinny kid i used to be. when i look at pics i can deff tell a difference.

As the old saying goes "Perceptions is reality" and I think all us have a slight touch of a distorted self image. I still see that chubby kid in the mirror but my friends call me "Gunter" now hahaha. Go figure right? I guess I wont stop till I see what they see. I am 5' 9.5" with 19 1/2 inch arms cold. According to Wikipedia, Jay Cutler is 5'9" with 22" arms. On the screen he looks like a giant but in reality, some of the stats you guys have posted would make you the giants.

jay has 23 inch arms. btw i've met him and pics don't do him justice. he's
literally twice as thick as most men and he is HUGE!

a well defined 18 or 19 inch arm looks much bigger than a soft rounded
20 or 21 inch gun. i'm much larger looking at 235 7% than i was at 245
and 12%

23 inches!?!? Chit meng. That's close to the Hulkster's 24 inch pythons lol. Seriously though, at 5'9" and close to 300 lbs with only a few percentiles worth of bf, I would imagine that your assement of Jay is more than correct. And for the record, I'll take a round 21 inch rounded gun over my veiny, not so round lookin 19.5 inch guns, FOR NOW that is haha. Talk to me in a year though haha.

Thanks for the correction.

whats funny is you can watch a training video of ones of these pros for a half hour turn it off and walk by a mirror in the house and notice that compared to those guys you look like an 8 year old girl.

If you look up ecto in the dictionary I swear my pic is beside it. I was 142 @ 6'2. It has taken me a lil over 5 years but I have managed to put on 65+lbs. However when I look in the mirror, I see the same person. Pics show the diff but I can't see it. Damn, I'd kill for 19+" arms :(

Yep..I was 160 when I started 8 years ago with 14" arms and 18" legs, all that stacked to a height of 6' 3"...scary :)

Got you beat. I was 6'2", 145-148 pounds as a sophmore. Got up to 188 with 7-8% BF before tearing my ACL. At 6'3", I weight only 153 I think when I got to start lifting weight. Idk what my bodyfat was, at least 12%.

I'm getting back into it and I'm at 182 lbs, with 9% BF. I'm aiming for 195 by Christmas, and for training camp (next year) I want to be 210 with 10 or under BF%. Yes, I'm counting on some muscle memory.

Oh, and I have 15 inch pythons, started at 12 1/2. LOL

They're definately improving. They look a lot more dense than they did before. They're not big by any means yet, but when I have a solid pair of arms, it will be that more of an accomplishment. :chomp:

definitely count on it mate.

Like I said when I started I was at around 140lbs - I got to a max of around 280 give or take and then took a number of years off. I remained quite well rounded at 220lbs with not too high bf. Now within 6 months or so I am back to around 260ish (so muscle memory and what I learned previously about training, diet, and my body has definitely played a big role. I am also playing around with natural diuretics so sometimes holding more water, sometimes less but 260lbs is average and I am also on letro.

I am actually starting to look in the mirror now and see some major changes.

I altered my training slightly and definitely feel I have overcome a minor plateau.

When I get to 280lbs and want to retain that and drop to around 10%, I guess I will need the consultations.

Thanks for the replies gentlemen.

I am also playing around with natural diuretics so sometimes holding more water, sometimes less but 260lbs is average and I am also on Femera - letrozole - .

I am actually starting to look in the mirror now and see some major changes.

I altered my training slightly and definitely feel I have overcome a minor plateau.

When I get to 280lbs and want to retain that and drop to around 10%, I guess I will need the consultations.

Thanks for the replies gentlemen.

Yeah, the only thing I think may limit me it that I didn't have the muscle for years like many others. So since it never solidified for an extended period of time (a year or longer), this may effect how much muscle memory I had.
Any ideas on this?

I don't think how long you had the muscle has too much of a role in muscle memory.

From my experience and from those i have trained, as long as you once had the muscle, all the signals, routes, pathways etc were already present or had been created.

Good luck with all your results and hoping you get what you want asap :)

Just measured my arms today and they are at 20.5 inches flexed so I am H A PPY.

Sweet, you broke the 20" mark. Congrats!

Thanks for the info, I was hoping so but never really found much on muscle memory outside of mags, which are...suspicious sources. lol

I suppose I'm big frame as well. 6 ft 245lbs and I feel small to some degree.....I started to analyze my body as a whole and symetry is something I look at very closely. I used to just bomb away body parts and at the end of the day I still looked unproportionate. Now, I concentrate on what is going to give me the most symetry for my body type. Back is lagging so I work the back extra, arms I got them to 19 cold and chest is not a priority right now since it has been hurting a little but I will concentrate on that next.
I agree with the fact that you need to work that body part 2x a week to get results....at least I do.
I might start to incorporate 2 workouts a day and I would be interested in some feedback if anyone has done it. I never tried it but for example I would want to try doing split routines of maybe chest and back in the same day 8 hours apart so I can focus on body parts more closely.
