well he is a personal favourite
i grew up in northern california and played dominoes with some bros that told tales very similiar to his skits
good times!

Emo Phillips

Jamie Foxx
Bernie Mack
Robin Williams
George Carlin
Eddie Murphy
Eddie Griffin
Dave Chappelle
Chris Rock
D.L. Hughley (older stuff)
Cedric the Entertainer
Sinbad (for clean stuff)
Bill Cosby (story telling)
Richard Pryor

in no particular order.

I grew up listening to Carlin, Pryor, Cosby, watching Eddie Murphy.

Carlin - favorite old
Murphy, Wright also good
Emo's great
Lewis Black - favorite new
Good bar comedian - Brian Regan

You all are really making me want to take my xmas BestBuy bucks and get E=MO2, the Emo Phllips double album. :)

"I want to open a Native American sex shop and sell wet-dream catchers . . . "-Emo

Eddie Murphey
Richard Prior
Chris Rock
Bill Cosby is pretty dang funny too.

The redneck dude with the drink and cigarette is pretty dang funny also.

Dave Chapelle is pretty funny also.

Bump my man Lewis Black again. That shit is laugh out loud funny again and again.

And definitely bump Dave Chapelle. Very, very funny. You ever see the "White power" skit, or his night out with Wayne Brady . . . :lmao:

And special boost for Bobcat Goldthwait. He's a freakin' riot these days . . .

everyone mentioned are hilarious
but i will take robin williams, billy connolly, dennis miller, george carlin and sinbad over the rest
i guess i am more cerebral

bill cosby is up there too

bill murray and dan ackryoid get special props but i don't recall them doing standup

i'm talking guys that go in day in and day out and face some rough crowds

yea there are a lot
george carlin set a precedence

but for ad lib ya gotta go with robin williams
dennis miller makes you think
billy connolly is just off the wall
sinbad is a category by him self

I just can't see past Bill Cosby's pseudo-speech impediment. George Carlin: Whenever I stand at a urinal that contains a cigarette I think of "... sink the butts". Robin Williams reminds me of some hyperkinetic meth heads I have met. I've never seen Billy Connolly. The last time I saw Sinbad was when he was 'Star Search' defending comedy champion.

Eddie murphy or BOB sagat(full house guy)

Bob sagat has to be the dirtiest stand up comic ever. He holds nothing back. Totally worth seeing.

Don Rickles can be quite the side buster.

Hard to pick a fav. Some of mine?:

Brian Regan. Didn't realize he was clean he was so funny. Bought his album.
The Cos'. I remember listening to LPs of his when I was a kid.
Robert Schimmel. Hilarious. Dirty.
Ellen Degenerous. In her pre-homosexual days. Very unique style of mis-direction.

Fav new comic? Dane Cook. AWESOME. Really a stage presence.

anyone know who the guy is that is a ventriloquist
his dummy is named peanut
and peanut has a dummy that is a jalapeno?

k to anyone who can name him

I like Bill Engvall and the others from blue collar tv

k
during one of my sabiticals i let this thread die
time to revive it
i invite new opinions and newbies and old orbs to give me your .o2

George Carlin
Mitch Hedberg
Chris Rock
Steven Wright
Don Rickles
Chelsea Handler
Dimitri Martin
Jerry Seinfeld
Richard Pryor
Sinbad
Jim Gaffigan

There's a favorite stand up comedian joke thread somewhere down there that apparently didn't go over too big. lol :)

thought it was time to rebirth it

and you forgot robin williams
remember all his stuff is ad lib

Ron White is hilarious and Foxworthy is ok but Larry the cable guy is just too hick for my liking and that Bill Envall just isnt that funny

Also,
Dave Chappelle
Carlos Mencia
Bob Saget

are hilarious

i wonder what chris rocks going to end up doing at the oscars

Probably a bunch of jokes about the difference between black people and white people.
Nothing but freshness and originality from that guy.

You people cannot be serious with those Blue Collar idiots. Jesus.

It's all in your personal taste.... I like Dennis Miller and George Carlin for their intellectual brand of comedy, but I can laugh my ass off at Larry the Cable Guy too. I don't think you can really pick one comedian.

A few I have really liked:
Mitch Hedberg
Jake Johanson
Dave Chapelle
Jerry Seinfeld
Steven Wright

I like comedians that don't go for the obvious joke all the time and really search for original material.

Haven't seen much stand-up comedians in action. I see them on Leno and Conan etc.

Rich Hall and Jim Gaffigan have had good material sometimes when they've been on Late Night w/Conan.

Chapelle and Rock of course

No order: Comedians some of which dont do stand up.

Eddie Murphy
Dave Chapelle
Chris Rock
Sandler Sometimes
Jack Black
Chris Farley
Will Farrell
Vince Vaughn
Ben Stiller
