Best food for quick energy?

haha.. dude you don't want to eat before a race unless you want to throw up

you understand your body creates energy for training via neurotransmitters.. not from food. that is why road races are done in the morning.

get a nice sleep the night before, that will power you on your race. you don't eat before a run
 
Prior to working out you want to eat something high in carbs, moderate in protein and low in fat.

I like to eat some oatmeal with vegan protein powder and blueberries mixed in
 
If I had a track meet coming up what would I want to eat say 1-2 hours before my race?

Depends on whether or not you do 100m sprints or a decathlon
